2035

Extract from The Sunday Times 13th May, 2035 Royals Take The Thrown For the first time in their 164 year history, Reading FC won the English Premier League last night, with 3 games remaining, cementing their position as one of the nations most dominant teams, in the last decade. 7 Years after the ev...

Re: Is kebe next?

I think you have to understand the stature of the club within world football to answer this one. We're a fairly small team. Even within our division, no matter how successful we are in the near future, we will still be a small club. We can't expect the players to be loyal to us. Its a job, to them. ...

Re: Are you happy with the current state of RFC?

Delighted. Although we haven't got a large bank balance to dip into, the difference between what the club makes and what the club spends must surely be on the positive side. We have a chairman who's written off plenty of club debt in his time and is a supporter of the club: He wont risk putting the ...

Re: Fans buy out?

I heard that our spending money, or rather a lack thereof, was supposed to be because the banks had claimed back all loan money. That being true, the club may well be on the way to being worth serious money. As long as we don't go spending an absolute fortune and borrowing money for wages. Though I ...

Re: Favourite current Reading player?

Cisse, without a doubt.

He's strong, determined, focused and he can play both in a defensive position, or an attacking one. He can push up and support the midfield and drop back to support the defence. Probably the best player we have at the moment.

Re: Shhh! We're Reading.

I agree with you. There is a complete lack of noise at our home games. I'm one of only about 5 people near me who sing, and 2 of those sit next to me. I used to try and motivate people to stand and sing on here, and my comments were met with nothing but hostility and sarcasm. Perhaps we're a town fu...

Re: Most teams are frightened of us

Well said. Can work either way although I think most - like QPR - see it as a cup final and therefore are charged up to win every ball, defend and counter like crazy. In balance it probably works against us. Yet we're still managing to demolish teams. Its amazing how well we just completely overloa...

Re: Back from the game ~ Wolves

With all pre-season anxiety now behind us, is anyone else starting to think that when we get the ball on the floor and start really using the pace and talent we have, we seem almost unstoppable? At home, we barely look like conceding a goal, let alone taking less than 3 points. Then last night, we w...

Re: Bit Bloody Late Now !

Before everyone has a rant at him, do remember that it is HIS money, not the club's that he'd be spending. Perhaps we did need to spend a bit more than we did during the off season, but the point remains: Madejski sees a problem with the current set up regarding funding for purchases and has a plan ...

Re: Just how good was Marek's goal against Liverpool?

Am I wrong? Nope. Just that there's always been more Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea fans in and around Reading, than Reading fans. At least, more people seem to wear the shirts of the respective clubs. And the same is true across the nation (though obviously with Reading being re...

Re: Your worst bits of the season so far

Sitting in my seat, after the home defeat to Bolton. The silence was deafening, with murmurs of uncertainty, as the realisation hit home that perhaps we really were in the firing line for a relegation battle. Perhaps the most depressing moment i've experienced at the Madejski stadium.

Re: The cause of the symptoms for the treatment...

One of the major reasons for our drop down the table is that we massively over achieved last season, so it looks worse for us, than it really is. Also, nearly every other team in the league has improved their squad's massively (Villa, Everton, Portsmouth etc) and we didn't make any changes quick eno...

What about the song 'Oh my darling, Clementine' ? It's fairly slow and has lots of long notes, so its perfect.

OHH WHEN THE BLUES GO STEAMING IN OHHH WHEN THE BLUES GO STEAMING IN HOW I WANT TO BE IN THAT NUMBER OH WHEN THE BLUES GO STEAMING IN (but do this really slowly like spurs do, and then clap in and sing it fas, it would be great!) Yeah, that sounded really great when they did it, though in fairness,...

Re: If we really are one of the quietest teams....

The best songs sung at football matches are all really simple ones, or at least ones that are full of long notes, and fairly few syllables. It just sounds better and it's easier to sing that way.

If we really are one of the quietest teams....

Playing teams like Manchester United and Liverpool and listening to their fans, it makes you realise how little variation we have in our chants, so here it is: my third attempt at getting us to introduce some new songs. I'll suggest a few to get us going (and then I'll let you all criticise me for m...
