No. I wasn't trying to defend Lampard. What I was going to go on to say is that a ghost writer and editor and publisher are going to play things very safe, which is why most autobiographies are so anodyne. Ooh, you said Ronaldo is a oxf*rd, you can't say that, say that you've patched up your differ...

Quite right Aggro, they should create a breakaway club in the Reading Saturday League and burn effigies of John Madejski at half time in protest at his legal purchase of the club.

I remember next to nothing about what happend on the pitch in my first match. What I do remember is the banter, the atmosphere, the smells and everything associated with being part of the crowd. That's what got me hooked, that feeling of being part of the game and that's what kept me going in the re...

The highest official attendance I experienced at Elm Park was against Arsenal in 87. About 17,000 IIRC. I remember a few that seemed just as packed but the Simod Cup game against Coventry doesn't stand out as being one of them.

I could have sworn it was 89-90. I remember our first game being a 3-3 with Shrewsbury and the pitch was in a shocking state. The programme had an aerial shot of Elm Park on the cover and the pitch was brown. Maybe the mind is playing tricks. though.

Liverpool, Everton, Man U, Man City, Wigan, Bolton, Blackburn, Sheffield U, Boro and Newcastle all within 2 hours for me. That's 10 aways for starters. Good thing I've got enough Royalty points to get tickets on the first day of sale as well as parents who live 2 miles from Madejski to get them for ...

Thing I remember about that game was their RB, every time he touched the ball was booed, called a donkey and other not so polite things. Had a mare and was eventually replaced, must of had a nervous breakdown after that  Are you talking about the game at Elm Park? I believe said RB ended up pl...

Dai Brainbocs Was that the Sunderland game when it absolutely pissed with rain? I was on the Tilehurst end and wettest I have ever been at a match. Literally can't remember anything else about the game, minor details like who won, just the soaking.

It absolutely pissed it down when we drew 3-3 with Crewe.

R5 Live post-match was full of references of the imporatnce to teams like Leeds, Brum making a good start - as Reading were so fast out of the blocks and never looked back......... except of course we lost the first game  We had such a good start, we trailed Sheffield Utd by at least 6 points...

I know there are 6 games that, barring shifts in kick off times, I probably won't get to because of work; Blackburn, Bolton, Wigan, Aston Villa, Charlton and Portsmouth. By coincidence, 6 of the less attractive games of the season (6 we have a good chance of winning and i'm going to miss them, bollo...

We've been in the same league as Aston Villa back in 70-71 which I can just about remember.
We were in the same league as Villa as recently as about 1986/87 or 1987/88 season, can't remember exactly which P.S. Very sunny here in Sweden today
87-88, one of my first away games. We los...

Provided the service is there, Kitson will get his share. It's how we adapt as a team that matters, not individuals. That's were coaching, management, fitness and preparation become more important and we are taking the right steps at present.

But expectations have to be realistic. We have nothing to fear from two thirds of this league and it's on those games the players should be judged. We'll get the rub of the green in some, not in others and there are some that we should win. Talk of any of our forwards getting close to 15 in the leag...

If you concentrate on a player's weeknesses, then of course you'll think he'll struggle. If you concentrate on his strengths, you'll think he'll do well. You can say the same thing about any player in our squad. The truth lies somewhere in between. I think some people on here are expecting too much....
