Re: Madejski Newsfelch

There are actually, in my mind, 2 schools of thought about the question I posed. First he holds onto the team and bleeds it of the money (selling off players etc.) he needs to help him offset other personal/business losses he has incurred...professional football has never been as lucrative. or Secon...

Hidden behind a subscription firewall...

But I can understand the gist of it even if I can't read the article. I guess my question would be what, if any, impact will this have on his desire to sell the team?

Re: Manager Backing?

No, I don't blame the manager. In fact I think since he took over he has got more out of the lads then anyone could have expected. I love the team because of their penchant for overachieving. If the chairman gave us all the soldiers we needed to go to battle we'd probably be a shoe-in for promotion....

Re: Sheff U (a) match thread - The Dane Whitehouse Experience

Arggggh!! It sounds like we fielded a squad to make sure we got a point, which we did. Which is all fine and dandy except imo we really needed the 3 points. Long all alone up front? Hmmmmmm... :o I really thought after we sold Gylfi, without trying to replace the goals we lost with his departure, we...

Re: Hope's the killer

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts then every day would be Christmas... I guess for me Cardiff was the tougher one to take. We lost our composure, which cost us 2 points and 3 games for the player whom had really solidified our midfield. Granted he wouldn't have been eligible to play against QPR no...

Re: Cheer up Hob Nob!

Good points Arch... Like me reiterate I really do like our model. I prefer it to the the big spending one. And you are spot on that each of them are different. The QPR example is a good one. The only difference between them and us is that they have deep enough pockets not to have to sell off the tal...

Re: Sheff U prediction thread

No Leighterwood or Karacan and we're playing a team desperately trying to avoid the drop? I am hoping that we can claw out a 2-1 result in our favor. I can see this going very badly. These kind of fixtures are the ones which worry me most at times... But I'll stick with my 2-1 Reading prediction. It...

Re: Cheer up Hob Nob!

Results drive attendance. Lack of results result in lower attendance and decreased revenues requiring the team to sell off more players as they develop in the future. But which direction are we heading in the long term? I know the history of the team, where we came from, and the realities of footba...

Re: Cheer up Hob Nob!

In response to the first sentence of your reply...are the fake hoops, the bluebirds or the canaries going backwards? All of them are actively trying to move forward and appear that they are. I in no way, shape or form advocate spending like a drunken sailor to try to achieve that goal. Then why men...

Re: Hope's the killer

My expectations at the beginning of the season, expectations based on our form in the second half of last year and based on the fact that we held on to Gylfi over the summer, was that we would have a great chance of being one of the two teams to win an automatic promotion. Then Gylfi was sold... I c...

Re: Cheer up Hob Nob!

Yeah, I guess... But, geez, we were sitting right there. All it would have taken, in my very subjective opinion, is picking up that one piece we needed. And, imho, it could have been done without breaking the bank. I'm not saying it, "it" being getting promoted, isn't a possibility still ...

Re: Norwich Away - Match Thread

The results of the last 3 fixtures have been exquisitely painful...

We really needed 5 points from the 3 games and we ended up with 1...which is bad enough on its own. But how it happened? Ouch. :(

Re: Shane Long looking to move in Summer

How much could/will they get for him? 2 million? Is it worth it to sell one of the team's best young players for that little, little in the big scheme of things? I'm not sure. We won't get Sigurdsson money for him, not even close, that is for sure... And from Shane's point of view if he moves up he ...

Re: QPR - Back from watching on TV

The beatings will continue until morale improves. I was wondering how Shane's fitness was after picking up a knock early in the aforementioned game but I saw he was in the line-up for Ireland's destruction of Wales yesterday. I would imagine that will make many here happy on a couple of differ...

Having lurked here for a bit I know with my very subjective opinions it prolly won't be the last time someone says that to me here.  But, seriously, thanks for the welcom...

Re: QPR - Back from watching on TV

Hello...new to the board. :) Representing the Connecticut chapter. Got turned onto the team by an on-line mate of mine. It kinda sucks being a fan in the States...I can only follow them on the MBM reports. The last game against the fake hoops was probably the most frustrating game of the year...
