God knows who takes over at Liverpool, it is almost an Alex Ferguson like task to replace Klopp.

Klopp may take a break and wouldn't surprise me if he goes out with 2 or 3 trophies - Liverpool will need to get the next appointment right - Alonso seems the obvious choice esp if he does win the Bundesliga.

No idea, but he has said he doesn't have the energy to keep doing the Liverpool so it would be surprising to see him go straight into another high profile role. I know England don't play as often, but it's still a high pressure full time job.

Plus, some coaches who have a distinct style and require attention to detail, such as Klopp, aren't suited to international football where you don't get the time in training to coach players and implement your ideas.

Maybe our new owner can go all out for him instead. L1 role out of the spotlight.

I didn't expect him to announce it mid-season, especially as Liverpool are in good positions for 3/4 trophies this season. It's going to be a very tough act to follow for the next person, unless it's a real high profile name who can continue where he has left off.

It may be but what if he turns it down - Liverpool go with say, Nagelsmann, who is also successful, the chance may go. Now if Alonso continues to be successful at Leverkusen then another job will come up but, assuming they do win the Bundesliga, history shows that Bayern will take the title back next year (only once since 1994/95 have Bayern failed to regain the title the year after losing out and that was to a Klopp lead Dortmund) and Leverkusen will likely fall back into the pack.

So if offered it Alonso may see it as a now or never thing and can see Liverpool giving him a couple of seasons grace unless he is really, really bad.

The other issue is the "unique" way FSG manage the finances i.e. not just splashing £££££ because they can so whoever comes in would need to be happy to work with a certain amount of financial restriction.
