Three Points For Unconvincing Royals

Reading secured a vital three points in the Championship to pick up our first win since the opening day of the season. But it was far from convincing, as Yeovil were the better side for much of the game. In the first league fixture between the two sides Yeovil were only beaten by a single goal - a penalty from Adam Le Fondre, after he was taken down in the box, with 13 minutes left to play. Without that penalty Reading would be looking at a run of five games without victory after the shocking 0-6 defeat at Peterborough mid-week. That huge defeat came despite Reading being big favourites against the League One side - and despite putting out a strong side on paper.

Reading look far from settled despite being six games into the new season. The transfer window closes on Monday and could well prove another disappointment for Reading fans. Jimmy Kebe seems to be on his way out of the club after Crystal Palace look to wrap up his transfer. At the same time Reading still don't look the finished article for a side that are looking to challenge for promotion. There's plenty of work for Nigel Adkins to do.
