Gorkss was Reading's first scorer early in the first half, heading home Nicky Shorey's free-kick, and it was 1-1 at the break before QPR took the lead again. enough to send Reading through.

Once more the lead was short lived before Nicky Shorey scored a superb free-kick to make it 2-2. Just five minutes later, and with nine minutes left on the clock a decent Reading move saw Tabb and Hunt supply Pogrebnyak who scored the winner with a back heel. Reading should have added a fourth from the penalty spot but Pogrebnyak saw his kick saved and the one goal margin was enough to send Reading through.
