Dutch Influx Continues As Beerens Confirmed

16 July 2016
By Hob Nob Anyone?

The influx of Dutch into Reading FC has continued with the confirmed signing of winger Roy Beerens. Beerens has been on the radar for some time and signs from German top tier club Hertha Berlin on a three year contract. Jaap Stam spoke very highly of the player on his arrival as he continues to build his new squad ready for the new season.

The 28 year old player spent two seasons at Hertha Berlin after a career that has included spells at Dutch sides AZ Alkmaar, Heerenveen and PSV Eindhoven. Beerens is a light weight player in size, but is reported to be strong and fast and can play down either wing. Beerens will link up with fellow recent signings Joey van den Berg and Danzell Gravenberch as Reading FC continues to take on a more and more Dutch look.

German journos saying us and forest interested in the hertha winger. His move to Stuttgart has fallen through.

His agent was here over the weekend and a deal thought to be €1.2m agreed for the Dutchman.

Looks an interesting player, time will tell if any truth in it.

Thought we were done with Dutch players!

Does look interesting though, his stats are promising.

Who cares if he's Dutch?

If they are good players then Stam can sign a whole bloody Dutch team as far as I'm concerned

It was just a passing comment from something earlier where I believe Stam said we were done signing Dutch players.

So we have the Tish money, a player becomes available that Stam knows and we can now afford and we go for him.

Big whoop.

Why can't people just calm the fcuk down on these forums these days.

You seem the most agitated, I made a simple passing comment about a quote that Royal Ginger provided with a link to the article, who is worked up exactly? In my opinion the person telling people to calm the fcuk down.

Don't worry about it. Tshibola was staying also.

Good point.

Although he does go on to talk about the physique of Dutch players, I read that as meaning he won't sign any more players from the Dutch League.

If the player improves the squad and the deal is good, I don't care where the players are from. I'm having more and more confidence in what Stam is trying to build.

All I'd read into it is that he wasn't planning on any more Dutch players at the time of the interview but that doesn't mean that he wouldn't change his mind if a good opportunity arose.

Seen a bit if him in the Bundesliga. Was very decent in the season before last as Hertha just stayed up, didn't really get a look in much last season as Hertha upgraded the squad a fair bit and qualified for Europe. Has the potential to be a very good signing at our level.

Reading have agreed a deal with Hertha Berlin for the transfer of Dutch winger Roy Beerens, according to Kicker via Dutch outlet Sportsnieuws.nl.

Jaap Stam has tied up a deal worth 1.2 million Euros, or just over £1 million.

Beerens, who played twice for the Dutch national side but not since 2011, made just two appearances in the Bundesliga last season, although he suffered a few injuries, but nothing that would keep him out for that length of time.

The 28-year-old also appeared for the Netherlands in the 2008 Olympics, where the Dutch crashed out to Argentina in the quarter-finals.

Reaction from their fans

1.2 million fixed plus even bonuses are naturally brilliant. This reinforces the wisdom undertake Esswein quasi for faaast +/- 0 and would have to coach fit their player types

That 'd really explain why he did not want to vfb

The interest of the British Association may be related in any case with their new coach, who is likely to know the strength of Beerens from the domestic league . I would be interested in the bonuses that would be expected Hertha because of Reading FC is now in the coming season in the British Championship is not just a candidate for advancement - rather the other way around . But the base amount is of course also very neat and likely interest in Esswein back into perspective a little .

Now only Beerens must struggle through for signature. But given the salaries waving as he is one probably accept a shorter Laufteit . Preetz will have accepted the offer with thanks . Dardai would Beerens probably anyway not used and with Esswein succession is clarified

I understand very little of that..

So basically they're happy with getting £1m + add ons because he's not in their plans and doesn't fit the coach's style, however the add ons won't be activated because we're more likely to be relegated than promoted. Also Stam seems to be quite a big draw from Dutch players.

Now, if we could just convince Robben and Sneijder.

Tevreden (sp?) is driving this deal. He told Voetbal International medical tomorrow and 3 year deal on the table.

Well, this fella isn't a WSC player. His agent is Dick van Burick of ESA soccer.

Looks like Brian Tevreden told voetbal football the deal is as good as done. 3 year contract.

Reading are set to sign Dutch winger Roy Beerens from Hertha Berlin on a three-year deal, according to Sky sources.

Beerens looks set to join the Championship outfit, who finished 17th last season, for a fee of €1m (£830,000) and will sign a three-year contract.

The 28-year-old joined Hertha Berlin in 2014 and made 29 appearances, scoring four goals.

Yep looks a done deal.

Happy with this. Everything we need in a winger - good with both feet, very quick, skilful and an eye for goal.

I'm hoping this bloke can play down the left because that's what we need. We don't really need another right winger.

LM: Fosu, Quinn, Swift(?)

RM: Barratt, GMac, Beerens(?)

Balances it up nicely. Although announcing Ola John, Swift and Beerens would be fantastic.
