2001/2002 Season:
Earlier this season the Royals pulled off a 2-1 victory at Peterborough:
24 November 2001: Peterborough 1 Reading 2 (Division Two)

2000/2001 Season:
The 0-1 defeat at Peterborough last season came when Reading had just started to hit a bit of form - coming straight after 4-0 and 5-0 home wins over Brentford and Oldham. Later in the season we drew 1-1 at home with a Jamie Cureton goal.
17 February 2001: Reading 1 Peterborough 1 (Division Two)
16 September 2000: Peterborough 1 Reading 0 (Division Two)

Before last season Reading and Peterborough seemed to be regularly drawn together in the early stages of the league cup. Both the 1999/2000 season, the season before that, and the season before that saw the Royals victorious over Peterborough over the two legs - always drawing one and winning the other:

1999/2000 Season:
24 August 1999: Peterborough 1 Reading 2
(League Cup, Round One, Second Leg)
11 August 1999: Reading 0 Peterborough 0
(League Cup, Round One, First Leg)

1998/1999 Season:
26 August 1998: Reading 2 Peterborough 0
(League Cup, Round One, Second Leg)
11 August 1998: Peterborough 1 Reading 1
(League Cup, Round One, First Leg)

Predictions This is another crunch fixture, and no mistake.
A victory could see Reading promoted if Brentford slip up, a result that could see wild scenes at the Madejski Stadium. Lets hope that's the way it happens on the day. A win.

Pre-Match Opinions

Parkinson and Watson sit to deep, what about Watson and Harper? We don't need two holding midfielders. Harper can have a free role and do what he does best-skill and creativity. Parkinson doesn't offer anything apart from winning the ball back. He's got no technical ability. Watson's a better version of Caskey, and can also anchor the midfield.
