Re: How bad would relegation be?

Would relegation actually mean anything to the majority of fans? We'd still look forward to Saturdays and midweeks, there would still be plenty of bigger teams and plenty of smaller teams and hopefully we'd see a good game every now and then. I've never understood fans who would rather be watching R...

Re: Weekend Football

The only English team with more than one player in the current Scotland squad is Southampton (2). Don't worry about it!

Re: Champions League/Europa League 2021/22

It's meant UEFA can give European football to a lot of smaller nations, and at the same time reduce the number of teams in the Europa League. It won't affect any of our lives in any meaningful way whatsoever. Spurs might play Roma in it at some point, which might be fun (if Spurs can get out of thei...

Winston Biscuit Also dont forget FreeSports on Sky which shows some decent games sometimes. Usually Portuguese but this weekend they are showing La Liga and Serie A

Is it free? Or rather, included in the Sky package..? Even sometimes?

Re: Champions League/Europa League 2019/20

There were a couple of (English) National League sides, along with some Irish lads, in the Scottish Wafer Biscuit Cup this year. I don't know how long that's been going on. Possibly some Welsh sides in there too. As far as I can tell, it was mildly diverting for those involved. Anyway, time to scrap...

But yes, they've spent a lot of money on players that probably arent worth it. Unless they stay up, and then.. they are, I guess?

Re: The generic transfer thread

Bournemouth got Ake from Chelsea, and the buy back clause is £40 million. I can't claim to know if there's a sell-on clause, but I suspect there might be.

Re: VAR

If a penalty is missed (saved or whatever) then play restarts with a goal kick these days, so there's no point in encroaching.

Actually that may only start next season, I haven't been watching any of the holiday football.

Re: One for HNA? refs - offside or not?

This pops up from time to time, and the general consensus (I think) is that if it happens to Chelsea then everybody has a chuckle. This is from Ask the Ref, and seems to say that you were right but the lino doesn't really get any help from the lawmakers. You can see why he allowed it (wrongly). You ...

Re: Nations League & Friendlies

Possibly, but how many of that last 18 were irreplaceable? I cant' see a list anywhere but I'm guessing only Kane, and he's just had a few weeks off. Right-back as well but there's always Walker to play there. Southgate won't mind chucking someone new in if his usual lot are shattered, and so far th...

Old Man Andrews
TheSpread Superb deal for Roma. They will be able to sign an equally good if not better keeper than Alisson for half that money.

Name a goalkeeper of the same ability available for £28 million.

I'll wait.

You'd have to look at some of the Germans over the past, I dunno, 60 years. The ones that played for Munich like Beckenbauer won quite a lot. Other than that maybe Spain's Barcelona players who played with Casillas? Xavi immediately springs to mind, but there may be others.. Patrick Vieira did ok to...

It's why I can't stand Tyldesley either. No matter the occasion he just can't subdue the Man Utd fanboy that lives inside him. Even playing FIFA, I have to mute Tyldesley. I swear Tyldesley used to play a game with himself where he would see how soon into a game he could mention Man U - it was the ...

Wycombe Royal I wonder what would happen if another club matched the free transfer offer? I assume they couldn't turn it down if it matched an already accepted deal.

The selling club can accept or refuse bids from whomever they wish.

Page 12 of our very own John Terry's a Racist thread? But yeah it's pretty unlikely Clattenburg would wait until this week to start with the racist language if he'd always been that way inclined.

Re: Goal-line technology and reviews

It's not something I spend a huge chunk of time worrying about, no. Probably have been caught up in such a discussion when I've been in the pub or whatever, but ultimately what they boil down to is an argument where one side doesn't know what they're talking about - which is a complete waste of ever...

Re: Goal-line technology and reviews

All very nice, but do you really not see how many subjective variables there are in a game of football? For example, what constitutes a foul? Fouls are reasonably straightforward for a competent ref to get right, a lot of the confusion comes from listening to clueless ex-pros after a match telling ...

Re: Goal-line technology and reviews

I'd rather watch a sport where every refereeing decision was correct and the match outcome was decided solely on who was the better sportsman/woman/team on the day. I can't believe I would be alone in that.

Re: Goal-line technology and reviews

If play is brought back after the fourth official's review, then the ball can be considered as 'dead' for the time since the incident in question. You can still be booked and sent off while the ball is dead but you can't score a goal. Not sure why anybody is that bothered about a game of football bu...
