Re: PA announcer

I heard that he got sacked in the following way: told to go out there and do his usual spiel and then they measured the 'noise' in the stadium afterwards - and compared it with the local library ... and he got sacked. Let's hope that's how they judge this guy going forward too - at least then he wo...

Re: PA announcer

SHAMELESS PLUG. Have written a piece about him for The Tilehurst End. Praying that the club recognises the breadth of feedback that people have given, and will do something - anything - about it. http://thetilehurstend.sbnation.com/2015-16-analysis-opinion/2015/8/21/9175669/the-man-with-the-mic-a-fa...

Re: Favorite goal at the Mad Stad

Can't argue with the ones chosen, and in all honesty most of my favourites have already been picked, but to add another to the mix - De La Cruz's 60 yard run and finish against Neil Warnock's Sheffield United. Delightful.

Re: BFTG - Leeds

Red card or not? Tough call, but laws of the game.......? Well, the laws of the game make it clear that most decisions are "in the opinion of the referee". This is one where he'd have been right either way, but he probably made the better decision. HRK was quite wide and moving away from ...

Big Foot
Stuka Sorry for stupid question but how does the seeding work?

Based on last year's final league tables

Goes to show that that final day of the season win against Derby wasn't meaningless then!

Could be an even more important game for them now, with rumours that they're about to be docked 3 points for fielding an ineligible player in their win v Brighton. AFC Wimbledon were given the same punishment last year...

Re: Semi final tickets?

3x Block 113 booked. Incredibly easy to do this evening online. Can't believe I'm saying it, but very impressed by how the club have handled it all so far. And baffled by those who went down there to queue for hours today. Each to their own, I guess. One quick question (apologies if it's already be...

Re: Semi final tickets?

I know there's a lot of bullshit being spoken about how many points people have/haven't got etc, but before people say "he can't not be a season ticket holder and have that many points etc," it's also worth remembering the other ways to get points - I think you get 10, maybe 20 points for ...

Re: What's the best atmosphere you've ever experienced.....

Outside of all the obvious ones already mentioned...Bryn's goal against Man Utd at Old Trafford in the FA Cup. The Reading fans were up in the Gods behind the goal and the combination of excitement and disbelief that we'd drawn level made for crazy celebrations. I think it was the game when a relati...

Re: Lucky grounds

Barring the 3-0 defeat in our first game back in the Championship in 2002, have only ever seen wins at Pride Park. Even when we go and get relegated there we see Reading win 4-0. Think my trips there read P7 W6 L1. Always got good returns out of away trips to Leicester, including our promotion there...

Re: What are you reading? Football related

Another plus one for the Robert Enke book - a very dark read but in my opinion the best football-related book ever written. Would also back up FTDW's Gary Imlach recommendation as well. Couple more recommendations from me: Keeper of Dreams - The other book written by Ronald Reng (who wrote the Enke ...

Re: SIGNED - Anton Ferdinand

Did also have to laugh at his interview. However I did think he picked out one thing quite interesting...almost immediately he said "it's a real family, just like I was used to at West Ham." I know we've heard a lot of crap these last few years about Reading being a family club, but I've a...

Sick of it all to be honest, and I'm sure Nigel Adkins, Nick Hammond and all of the other footballing men and women at the club are too. Trying hard not to believe whispers and rumours but the fact this has dragged on for so long doesn't exactly inspire confidence in any party. Then again what can ...

Re: Rumour - Le Fondre To West Brom or....

I like Le Fondre, but he's definitely one of those players who opposition fans seem to rate more than Reading fans do. Maybe because he hit their consciousness so prolifically with that January spell in the Premiership. Granted I'm disappointed to see him go but as others have said he wasn't the typ...

Renewed mine this morning (but plan to move seats on Movers Day). Girl in ticket office said they'd sold about 6,500 so far, although expects to do about the same amount again over the next week.

Living in the Rhondda Valleys my Gramps and his two sons were Cardiff fans...my Dad and Uncle both being City season ticket holders in their teens. Both moved away after university, my uncle to Reading and my dad to Croydon. By coincidence, just after my uncle moved to Reading to start work as a doc...

Shameless Tilehurst End plug, but my in-depth thoughts on Mikele Leigertwood. http://thetilehurstend.sbnation.com/2014/5/12/5709014/thank-you-ledge Didn't think I was fiercely pro-Leigertwood until I started writing the article, but when you look back you realise just how pivotal a player he was.
