Re: Mere Oak Park and Ride

Problem with park and ride is the buses getting back to the stadium having gone back to the car park after the game. This in part creates the early leavers situation so that people can get on the first buses.

Re: Reading Football club (holdings )PLC Accounts

There was a really well written article in one of the last editions of The Whiff which set out very clearly how football clubs structure their finances. It contained the sort of information those in board rooms would rather the fans did not get to know. Now how about STAR launching a campaign to get...

Re: Seperate Buses for Home and Away Fans!

Can recall that in the not too distance past Thames Valleys finest have not allowed large numbers of away fans on to buses but have escorted them back to town on foot. Today there were not enough police especially after the match walking down to the park and ride buses. I was under the impression th...

Re: Rip-Off Wembley

Why is it that places like Wembley have to rip their customers off. The staff selling this stuff are part time as and when required contract staff on national minimum wage not internationally renowned chefs assisted by silver service waiters. The food and drink is not exactly of the highest quality ...

The reason I don't understand football broadcasting rights is because I am too old to have done media studies at school.

Great result perhaps the next game will be on proper telly. :D :D :D

Re: Reading Buses Boxing Day Surcharge

Does STAR have a view on this? Have they made, or will be making representations to Reading buses? If Reading Buses are part of the Council as opposed to being a company they would be subject to Freedom of Information Act requests so how much extra did they take? What extra did it cost them to run t...

Re: Reading Buses Boxing Day Surcharge

Got caught out by this one from Shire Hall. Now I have no issue with the drivers being paid overtime and so they should but three buses making what three trips each I doubt if the drivers got paid that much at an extra £1 per person. Do the sums. The powers that be want you to use public transport b...

Re: Saturday's The Whiff sought

Always buy the Whiff having given up on the official programme, sorry matchday magazine, which is far to sanitised for my liking. The Whiff is funny, thought provoking and at £1 better than the £2.50 or is it £3.00 now for the official one. Another strength is that the articles are a reasonable leng...

Re: The bloke in the next seat

Really nice family sit around us in the north stand mum and dad in the same row their two sons and their kids in front. Behind us sits a guy and his boys and another bloke who has a really good football brain. He sees things in advance of most of us, players out of position or an opposition player g...

Car Parking

Anyone know if the former Whitbread distribution depot in Acre Rd will be open this season? Opened unofficially last year but closed when someone rated on the enterprising folk running it. At the time someone said that they were going to try and reopen it officially. Any news

Re: Robin Friday's memorial tree

The tree is situated at the Culmington Gardens side of Walpole Park just inside the gate (opposite side from the main Uxbridge Rd). I think the tree was probably planted by Robin's family under Ealing Council's Tree Sponsorship scheme which ran for a few years after the storm of 1987 which destroyed...

Re: Car Park Former Whitbread Depot Acre Rd

Thanks RTID, I knew someone on here would know. Hope they get it sorted soon. Cannot imagine that Insurance for a few hours on a match day would cost that much and if the owners get a cut it will help them as they will be having to pay business rates on the place even though its empty. Cannot see wh...

Breach of the peace the old common law offence now replaced by s5 of the Public Order Act 1986.

Almost as good as saying when asked by a constable what you are doing saying 'I am going about my lawful occasions'

Re: Back from the Game Thread - Blackpool (H)

A very good power play in the first 20 minutes but unfortunately we didn't get the goal. They did have 11 men behind the ball and had trouble clearing their lines It was only in the second half they really started to get players forward and threatening us. All in all a solid performance all round. ...
