Re: Play-off/relegation watch.

Anyway, stop laughing at the back.

Leam overall form in league - played 20 won 10 draw 6 lost 4 (1.8 ppg).

12 games left to go, so keeping the same form gives won 6 draw 4 lost 2, an additional 22 points, for a total of 73.

If we can improve just a small amount, who knows.

Re: Play-off/relegation watch.

stealthpapes I remember when the Posters What Know Things were telling me the table don't lie and we were in the relegation spots.

You are all morons. Utter, utter morons.

Anyway.

Quoting for emphasis.

Re: What do people expect from a football team and manager

It's like the club (in general) simply doesn't care about the community. Yes. How much of this was a priority when we were making half the backroom staff redundant, failing to pay tax and other bills, etc. This is the sort of ‘non-essential’ stuff that has been neglected and will take time to build...

Re: What do people expect from a football team and manager

Somewhat related to the attendances. 10 clubs with biggest increases in average attendance since 2015-16. I think its just a static comparison. In reverse order 10 Ipswich, +9,183 9 Fulham, +9,566 8 Birmingham, +9.780 7 Forest, +10,767 6 Everton, +13,894 5 Leeds, +14,268 4 Liverpool, +16,483 3 Coven...

Re: Play-off/relegation watch.

Losing play off final.

I wouldn’t immediately jump to “relegation nailed on”, reasonable chance Couhig flips his investment, for one.

My view is that you’ve got to go for it. The worst thing to happen this season would be any number of dead rubbers in the last month.

Re: What do people expect from a football team and manager

It does feel that the biggest driver is the division we’re in, then perceived standing within the league then actual standing within the league. It’s mildly interesting that there’s a bump on actual promotion campaigns vs near misses (00-01 vs 01-02 where the gap is 1 position) but also 10-11 vs 11...

Re: What do people expect from a football team and manager

Cheers.

Yeah, not particularly surprised we're down to roughly where we were the last time we were in League 1. The longer term trend of shedding the Championship/Premiership fans is one that might take time to reverse.

Away fan attendances do feel like they're holding up and strong.

Brogue: You mentioned average attendances elsewhere - do you have the numbers to hand by any chance?

Re: Richardson out

I don’t really see him as dislikeable, seems alright to me. Don’t think he’s amazing but don’t see him as offensive either. Seen far worse Main failing with the style of play me is just most of our forwards are so unsuitable for it. Just lose every header seem to be on a hiding to nothing most of t...

Re: Drop the ‘Royals’ nickname?

Definitely get rid, really don’t want the local comedians at other clubs chanting back certain things whenever someone in the Reading contingent shouts “come on you….”. Yeah. However can we cope? A local comedian has mocked my team's nickname . Now I'll never be able to show my face at Horse Guards.

Re: Drop the ‘Royals’ nickname?

Huntley & Palmers stopped production in Reading 50 years ago, why would we go back to that? it would make zero sense. This doesn't meant you have to drop the name. Lots of clubs still have their historic names despite the industry leaving. Maybe our new nickname should reflect Reading's place a...

Re: Drop the ‘Royals’ nickname?

Mid Sussex Royal The Biscuitmen was dropped when Huntley & Palmers moved to Merseyside; feel we need to change the name but maybe to something new, maybe something to do with technology??

Re: Play-off/relegation watch.

Even with the disappointment of the week, our most recent form is played 5, 8 points. It’s mildly short of most teams in the playoffs Bolton 9 Stockport 10 Bradford 9 Huddersfield 7 It’s better than over half the pack below us Stevenage 6 Wycombe 10 Luton 7 Plymouth 9 Peterborough 7 But that pack is...

Re: What do people expect from a football team and manager

Just brought in too many signings and moved others on who we had connection with I think this is fair in the main, but worth considering how much of the summer was in our hands. We were down to seven pros at one point, right? We had to bring in signings, there’s a few players I think we should have...

Re: What do people expect from a football team and manager

At the end of the day it’s a results business. If the side is turgid, but wins every game then people will moan a bit but they’ll put up with it and attendances wills still increase. If the team wins and also entertains then no-one moans and attendances go up quicker and likely stay up if you get a...

Re: Richardson out

This could well be the sliding doors moment in the Richardson regime, we have been playing between average and downright shite but he's been excused by the majority, myself included, because he was getting results. But the performances have taken an even further swing downwards and now, definitely ...
