Re: Do you ever wear a football shirt?

I like wearing some of the classic shirts of England and random international sides I can find cheap on ebay. Got a few classic Reading shirts (my favourites are the all black away shirt, from around 2004/5, and the all white away shirt that we were promoted in, in 2006). Really not actually keen on...

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

LUX The UEFA league is for teams like Villa, Spurs etc. And good for them. Obviously I'd love us to take part one day.

Liverpool really should not be taking part.

And you can argue the same for the likes of AC Milan, Benfica and probably Roma too!

Re: Football Rel8d Gripes

Tossing a coin to decide which end a penalty shootout takes place in club competitions. The home side on the night has already had the advantage 30mins extra to try and score a goal with the majority of the crowd backing them. Should just default to being at the end where the away fans are. And the...

Re: Champions League, Europa League & Europa Conference League 23/24

I’ve always thought that, should a team have a player sent off before penalties, they should be left with one less penalty taker in the original five. They can still win the shoot out, but would be a deterrent from simply shutting up shop I'd be fine with it if it got to the 11th penalty taker that...

Franchise FC
JedMaxwell Tom McIntyre's just got promoted. I look forward to welcoming him back on loan next January when he's only played three times before Christmas.

Twice in the FL Cup and once in the FA Cup ?

Portsmouth won't be playing in the FA Cup before Xmas, so it'll 3 LC apps.

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

8) Remind me again how far United got in this year’s European competition … I can wait … And I can’t stand Liverpool, but them losing, along with all but Villa, has cost us a CL place. Would be seriously ironic for you if United are the team denied a place Actually glad England aren't the ones taki...

Re: Rival Watch

I never want them in a higher division than us. This season is our low point in 25 years and their high point; we avoided defeat in both games, and now I want them to stay down so we can restore natural order next season. However I will concede they're hitting form at the right time. If they beat L...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Close seasons are always boring, this one will be more so until the take over is confirmed, upon which half this board will break down into various pessimistic diatribes on being owned by hedge funds/investment groups while the other half will go down the overbearingly optimistic route. Therefore lo...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Would add the first season under Pardew to this after we got promoted, finished 4th and lost in the playoffs to Wolves. I quite enjoyed the 2008/9 season. If we’d beaten Brum in that final home game we’d have got automatic promotion, as we had a superior goal difference. I went to the game at St An...

The current issue (no. 88) of Backpass magazine (you can usually find it on WH Smiths) has a good 3 page interview with Jerry Williams on his career and covers the 13 successive league wins in 85/86.

Pepe the Horseman They should just play the whole tournament in one day.

Play it indoors too, to counter any weather issues.

Re: FA Cup Changes

changes for everyone just to satisfy 'the big 6' While it might mean more "shocks" as little clubs prove better at penalties it's just another step in destroying the oldest domestic cup competition in the world but then it's already badly devalued with clubs playing partly Academy sides a...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Burton Albion (h)

There’s something I really dislike about Burton. Not really justified as they are a solid enough club. Think it goes back to Stam 1-2 game in front of a full house, just brings back awful memories Probably the funniest goal we've ever conceded btw Sure there must be worse ones than that (the Darlin...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Steve Evans leaves Stevenage to go back to Rovrum. He left them in 2015, apparently over having a different vision to the chairman and directors on the way forward for the club after their promotion to the Championship. Doesn't change the expectation that Rovrum will be challenging for automatic pr...

Re: Changes In Football thread

This all seems pretty sensible and would argue that the relative harshness of an indirect free kick close to goal is one of the reasons it has never been enforced too strictly - given long throws and corners only result in goals what, about 3% of the time then the punishment fits the crime. Worth n...
