Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

I wonder how well minor league team manage, though. At least they never have to try to compete with recently demoted NFL teams still running with an NFL-size budget.

I don't think anybody's posted a picture of the van from last night:

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

I'm also bemused as to how Wycombe could make it work financially, it's worth 3 times as much as the club. Given the limitations on use. I wonder if they planned to rent it out as event space in the summer. This is my thinking - or even carve up the facilities and have half of the site dedicated to...

Re: Anyone For Chinese?

If you also bought all of the shops and bars on Vastern Road, it's only marginally smaller than the Mad Stad site, although its trapezoid shape would constrain the room for the actual ground. You'd be exitig the ground straight onto busy roads though, it'd be madness. Of course, if you're playing fa...

Re: Anyone For Chinese?

I've just used a historic mapping tool to measure Elm Park, and I make it just over 16,000 m2.

Re: Anyone For Chinese?

Guys, a ground in the town centre wasn't even feasible in the 1890s, why would anyone think it could be done now?

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Most footballers probably have a better weekly wage, but employees in other industries can give notice to leave for a better employer/other employment. So no wonder if people feel a bit trapped. (Obviously, I get that in some areas there really isn't a viable alternative, and they're obviously the o...

They won't be crimes, will they? Breaches of licensing regulations and/or breaches of competition rules.

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Presumably with the (expected) Labour majority post-election this will help move things along quicker/have more positive backing from the MPs Any legislation not passed before Parliament is dissolved would fall, and would have to be reintroduced as a new bill, from the first reading, by the next go...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Leaving aside that the bill will fall after Rishi's shock calling of a GE next week, how likely do you think this would get through Parliament anyway?

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

But were they criticising him for spending lots of money, or for not spending it well enough? Because if it is the latter, that is still part of the problem. Pretty sure there was widespread bemusement at the levels of spending vis a vis Moore's contract, signing Baldock, Aluko, Puscas & João. ...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Some more details about the football bill here. It currently includes powers for a regulator to force an owner to sell.

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

I would agree with this approach, but you will get a counter argument that it stops ambitious owners investing which would favour the big clubs. And it would make it harder to crash the top table, but not impossible. And I'd say it's a price worth paying. Also, I support Reading. If I wanted to sup...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

You can go over what has got us here again and again, but bare minimum regulation is a backstop against where we are now. Stop paying wages, HMRC or football creditors? After too many offences, the regulator gets involved and uses funds from the industry to meet commitments (perhaps from a transfer...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

People would be hailing Dai as brilliant if he had spent £200m, got us promoted to the PL, not fallen foul of FFP. But the system isn't sustainable if the difference between judging something successful or a failure comes down to whether or not you pull off a massive gamble. You can't build a sustai...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

I still don't see why people have a grudge with Wycombe. Dai put up part of the club for sale. You can't blame Wycombe for being interested.

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

I suspect (and it's only supposition) the planning permission was made personal to Reading so that the council can keep a tight control of how the facilities are used. I'd be surprised if they objected to transferring it to Wycombe - or even to allowing both clubs to share (although there may still ...

Just reply to it now GWL. It will break the monotony of hourly posts asking whether there’s any news yet.
