Re: MATCHWATCH : Northampton Town (h)

Abrefa'a tackle and the crowd's cheer in injury time was definitely a highlight.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bolton Wanderers (a)

Didn't realise, but their recent form is pretty mediocre. W4, D3, L3, so 15 points from 10 which is not promotion form. All losses away from home though, so would be some effort for us to win there. Draw would be great.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Northampton Town (h)

Won by a single moment of quality like many games at this level. Big game from Pereira. We'd probably be safe already had he started the season as no.1.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Northampton Town (h)

Elliott is definitely a talent but he's nowhere near the level needed currently. He should be a fringe player at most with an eye to showing what he can do with a bit more confidence and a pre season under his belt. Doesn't help that his best position is CAM which Knibbs has sewn up.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Northampton Town (h)

Poor set of HT scores elsewhere. Really disappointing first half but at least no damage on the scoreboards.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Northampton Town (h)

Moore out for them which is a relief. The consensus on their preview podcast is that now he's gained fitness you can really see his quality at this level. And you always fear ex players with a point to prove.

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

A John Madejski or a Steve Bloom is incredibly rare. We're still lucky to have had SJM; our profile, facilities and recent PL history is mostly down to him and means we still have plenty of interest from buyers even in our current state. Mostly, you get big egos, sportswashing, property developers l...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

The sweet spot is rich enough to invest well, but not so rich they can afford to piss it all away and it not matter to them. You want them to need success so they will take their decisions on how to invest seriously.

Re: #SellBeforeWeDai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group

Good points - but then it is impossible to vet potential owners - only hindsight tells us that signing this player or not selling that one at the height of their form or relying on a so-called "super agent" for recommendations or hiring the former CEO of a top London Premier league club e...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

I wonder how important results on the pitch are. It now looks like we should stay up, but if we go on a bad run could we start seeing rumours that the deal is on the rocks again?

Re: #SellBeforeWeDai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group

I'll let someone involved in the campaign speak further but my view was that it was never about there being a benefactor model in football but ensuring there was governance around those to ensure we don't get into the same mess again. If the campaign was purely about having an owner than runs a clu...

Re: #SellBeforeWeDai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group

The main question to ask is what happens if it doesn't work. The buy low, develop players, use the academy, sell high strategy sounds great. But football is competitive and these strategies are not simple to execute. If we're still in L1 in 5 years and the investors are disappointed, what's their p...

Re: #SellBeforeWeDai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group

So if the rumours are correct and the prospective new owners are buying us as an Arbitrage play - with funds from various exotic industries (crypto/longevity biotech) - the protests continue or they stop? Do we want sugar daddies who gamble on making money (for themselves) in the prem or not? I was...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

The disappointment of the timing, aside from it not being done yet and us still being at risk, is what it could mean for the squad. If we want to renew Azeez's contract plus a few others, we're asking them to take a big leap of faith if the new owner only arrives as the season ends. How can they tru...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Remember when we were all excited by the possibility of Red Bird Capital who seem to be doing a reasonable job at AC Milan? They were interested before Storey emerged, so they could well have been a casualty of his bullshit. Which would obviously be a massive shame. But I also think Dai had an unrea...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

So if it is Chiron then what we have learnt over the past few days: William Storey potentially put any deal back a couple of months, and could even have scuppered a realistic deal but putting in a phantom 50m deal which put an unrealistic figure in Dai's head. Then Wycombe's interest in the trainin...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

If the potential new owners have loaned the club say to £2m to cover costs until the end of the season could they put us into administration if Dai changes his mind and can’t afford to pay them back? Not without a charge against the loan, which would appear on companies house. Without this they're ...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Someone suggested they could just be working on behalf of the yanks, similar to what they did for Bristol Rovers. There website says investment and advisory, so could be either. They also talk about seeking co investors, so it could be that they're leading but also have investors beyond their 2 mai...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

One big reason we don't have a sensible financial model in this country is that it's fundamentally bloody hard. You don't want to discourage ambitious owners from investing and fans from dreaming of punching above their weight, you don't want a system that entrenches the dominance of those fortunat...

What reception are we expecting for Moore? I'll probably go with polite applause.
