Re: The inevitable poll for the next Reading manager

In fairness Coppell's record prior to RFC was mixed; a good first spell at Palace (2nd, 3rd and 4th spells being poor) and did very well at Brentford - the rest being somewhat variable. All those screaming "Hunt Out" either in the stands or online, who are now writing off the new man befor...

Re: The inevitable poll for the next Reading manager

< 30% is pretty poor >40% is pretty good I'd also put a massive asterisk on anything achieved during Covid times. Coppell's record with us was only the low 40s. Richardson's record at Wigan is 42%. That's excellent. And across more than 100 games. Accrington's less good than I eyeballed, admittedly...

Is Carrick still free (yes far too big for us)? Would love him though

Re: Poll: Should Noel Hunt be sacked?

To misquote Brendan, “if you’re given the keys to a Honda Civic you can’t expect it to drive like a Ferrari!” RC has bought one solid striking option to replace 80% of the goals from last season. We needed more than just Marriott and we needed him sooner than we got him. The team looks like it’s imp...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Northampton Town (h)

Thought we played well in patches. Kelvin E did the best I’ve seen from him at holding the ball up, still a way to go as a striker. Elliott was a bit meh, bullied off the ball too easily. Slightly concerned at the gap that formed in the second half between the left wing and left back, Savage seemed ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : MK Dons (h)

I just don't get all the Elliott love. Felt he offered little tonight, although not as poor as Lane. He's back to looking lightweight.

Kelvin just isn't a striker.

Yiadom looked excellent for 45.

Ryan looks a superb prospect.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Stockport County (a)

Having now watched this back... Thought we lacked a bit of commitment to make a challenge in the area for their goal, everyone seemed intent on standing off and letting them play (possibly where we'll miss Williams / O'Connor). Thought the 1 on 1 looked offside, although hard to judge, got away with...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Barnsley (a)

Was always going to take time for a largely completely new squad to gel, especially as the majority came towards the end of the window. Thought we were weak at the corner for the first, Williams being left to mark two players and were caught ball watching for the second. Marriott looks good up to up...

Re: Confimred - Jack Marriott

Nothing wrong with the Marriott signing - knows the division, can score goals and can be a right pain in the arse up top. If, as Brogue, intimates we are still looking for a bigger forward to compliment Marriott and MOM then we should end the window with decent options up top. I see him more as a r...

Re: Confimred - Jack Marriott

Delighted we've signed a decent finisher, I just hope he's able to hold the ball up as well. We're clearly not planning to move to excessive wing play, with the ball being lumped into the striker's head (or we'd have gone for more of your Carroll type). I think that Marriott should fit in with the w...

Re: New Owners - Redwood Watch

Companies house today have issued a new communication titled resolutions. Pretty certain that these are something issued periodically (certainly did in May last year) summarising the working structure of the company, potentially some insights to how the business will run but not anything too exciti...

Re: Early expectations for next season

Slightly concerned that Carey may be one of those laid off (wages and surplus to requirements with JJ now in the house), I feel he has a lot to offer in terms of bringing players in. Realistically I feel that with a nearly blank slate in terms of playing squad we should be able to build a squad that...

Re: Charlie Savage to Wrexham

I'm not certain I'm building a team around him. He played most of last season through necessity. For me Wing further up the field is the best option, ideally with a mobile defensive midfielder behind him (Craig). If we can get big money off Wrexham, then great - use it to balance the books and bring...

was it written by someone with autism? it says one of the three clubs interested in him is Reading :| what a load of old guff Mbengue’s desire is to move to a club higher than the third division which could rule out a move to Reading. I’ve greatly enjoyed your reporting on the takeover, however it ...

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

Wouldn't be surprise if the following all depart, either for fees or otherwise... Garcia - OoC? Mbengue - will go champ or overseas Wing - surely one that will be looked at by lower champ teams Savage - as above Knibbs - as above I'd obviously love to keep all of them. Realistically, whatever happen...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Lincoln City (h)

Thought Campbell was poor.

Biggest issue seems to be playing Wing so deep. Perhaps starting Carroll in that role, putting Wing up the pitch with Savage and having Knibbs either up front or as a winger ahead of anyone!

Kelv and Garcia both hooked as there was a real risk of a second yellow.

Garcia put us in trouble twice in the opening 5 minutes, Campbell is bang average and keeps losing the ball.
