Re: Championship 2016/17 Predictions

Diame and Clark in at Newcastle - and they look set to be compensated for Sissoko's leaving by taking a couple of Madrid youngsters on loan too, as if they need them. Beginning to come round to the view that our points record may be threatened.

Re: THE BETTING THREAD

Of course those games look like that - it's the first week of the season. Give it a few weeks to settle down, get a feel for who is performing, where, who is scoring, who isn't, who has the best defence, and so on. Match betting in the first few weeks of the season is a mug's game.

Re: THE BETTING THREAD

And I'll get off your back after this post, but don't bet on everything . I got in that sort of rut at uni, my BetFair account would always have £100 in it (student LOLoan) and I'd be coming in from nights out and betting on US horse racing or tennis in the Far East for no reason other than it was l...

Re: THE BETTING THREAD

Yep. I don't know about half the time, but it looks a decent bet if indeed you think Fulham will struggle. Those odds have been boosted of course by a couple of decent signings and an unbeaten run during pre-season. Did you check that out? 8/1 means that the bet is value if there is more than 11% ch...

Re: THE BETTING THREAD

Good betting is all about finding value and assessing risk, isn't it? Correct. So why did you back Pakistan in the 2nd Test 'because they won the 1st Test'? England's record at Old Trafford is excellent. How much do you know about the AFL? Quite a lot I assume, to have bet on the winners of the lea...

Re: THE BETTING THREAD

How do you set up a stop loss on sports betting? I understand setting up a stop loss if you are spread betting the currency markets on GKFX. But how would you set up a stop loss on Bet365 or Betfair betting on a football match? That was my point, it's a 'manual' stop loss, and almost unworkable. In...

Re: THE BETTING THREAD

Top Flight
Is it a good idea to lay off a 0-0 draw for example? As soon as there is a goal you've won your bet.

'The 0-0 game' has gone down somewhat in online betting folklore.
You are generally getting odds of 1/7 or 1/8 on there being a goal in a game, so its very difficult to make a big return.

Re: THE BETTING THREAD

Sports betting has no such structure, in my opinion. This is untrue. The size of the bet may vary but your risk management comes from appropriate stop losses If I had a betting bank of £1000 i would be risking 1% to 2% a trade.....doesn't necessarily mean i'm putting bets of £10 and £20. I could pu...

Re: THE BETTING THREAD

There is no one answer. You can't 'solve' gambling to do it better. If you are betting on a near dead cert, or even better believe a near dead cert is over-priced, then you'll obviously gamble a bigger chunk of your bankroll than if you are backing an away team to score a surprise. Your bankroll que...

Re: THE BETTING THREAD

Can you afford £1k?
Can you afford to lose £20 on one bet?

And your optimum account size would depend on the markets in which you generally bet.

And what do you know about speedway?
I'm trying to help here.

Re: THE BETTING THREAD

Wolverhampton have won all 8 of their home games this season so should be able to beat lowly Coventry. No bets have been matched yet on the betfair exchange so it's hard to know at the moment what price I could get Wolverhampton at. But what do you know about speedway? Is there a 'home advantage', ...

And surely betting on women's football is folly.

No idea, but when a 29 year old with a dodgy back is worth £78m then even I'm worth £500k in today's market.

Pepe the Horseman Wolves trying to sign Anderson Talisca from Benfica for £20m. Wtf?!

Read about this - new owners not afraid to splash the cash, Talisca apparently set to choose Wolves over Liverpool.
Have to assume they have made him a ridiculous financial offer.

No Fixed Abode
Sanguine Saw Victor Moses started in the friendly against Liverpool last night - how does this guy continue to carve out a career?

Yeah - the we won 1-0 with 10 men.

Yeah I saw that, both teams played a mix of first-teamers and youngsters.
Looked competitive though.

Re: The generic transfer thread

It's long been Wenger's way to buy just one or two final jigsaw pieces every now and then. In terms of big signings - it's only really Cech, Ozil, Welbeck, Sanchez and now Xhaka in the last 4 years or so.

It'll work, one day. Maybe.

Re: THE BETTING THREAD

I'll be betting on any leagues that I know anything about and can get some coverage on. Today Tractor Sazi kick off their Iran Pro league campaign against the reining champions Esteghlal Khuzestan. I don't know what the story is over there. And you clearly know a little bit about betting, so ...
