Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

I remember an interview with Arsene Wenger about 20 years ago where he said that 2 pts per game was the benchmark for a title challenge. When was the last time 76pts got you anywhere near the title? I think Everton can seriously challenge for a CL spot. They are quietly building a very good squad a...

Re: BFIT - Wycombe (H)

Didnt realise how many enemies Wycombe have from League 1 clubs because of their promotion. They got proper trolled last night. It's a shame for Wycombe - terrific that a relatively tiny club has reached this level, but last night they looked like a club that 'finished' 8th in League One last seaso...

Re: BFIT - Wycombe (H)

We got the win. The rest doesn't really matter. We aren't going to play well every week, and this was 'one of those games'. But as per the second post on the thread, there was a definite improvement after the break (or arguably after 35 minutes or so). Esteves looks a terrific acquisition. Excited ...

Re: BFIT - Wycombe (H)

I think the lack of crowd is really helping us. No moans and groans for poor touches and misplaced passes, so the players heads aren't dropping. That, plus the fresh start under Paunovic, I think. Was going to post about the lack of crowd being a positive at the Maedjski yesterday, before realising...

Re: BFIT - Wycombe (H)

Whisper it but we have won three home games on the trot. How many games before we can say the hoodoo is gone? when did we last win a midweek home game? Technically, Boxing Day last year when we beat QPR. But a 'proper' midweek home game - Blackburn in February 2019. Which in turn was out first midw...

Whisper it but we have won three home games on the trot. How many games before we can say the hoodoo is gone? Odd thing about last season's awful home record is that of the seven home games we won, three of them were in a row (Preston, Millwall, Luton) and that was part of a run of five wins in sev...

Re: BFIT - Wycombe (H)

Overall I think (obviously) it has been a really encouraging start to the season. An in-form defence, signs of creativity in attack and enough of an end result to win five from six, with the promise of more to come in the final third. I hope we can sustain this through the weekend - we should beat R...

Re: BFIT - Wycombe (H)

The reason we're top is boro beat Bristol. We drew with them. Cardiff and Boro have also been a challenge. Barnsley were excellent first half. Wycombe made it tough. Big +1. I think every game has provided us with a test so far apart from Derby and Derby was the first game. Without sounding like I ...

Re: BFIT - Wycombe (H)

1st half: We were bullied a bit too much by Wycombe. We didn't have very good movement off the ball. Ejaria was fouled for a pen. How the ref / liner didn't see it, I'll never know. To me it was blatant that the defender committed himself and Ejaria was fouled. Ejaria was waiting and waiting for an...

Pepe the Horseman
Sanguine I'm certainly interested* to know how Coote answers Liverpool's question as to which part of Mane's body was offside. For a start the line on the official VAR screenshot is joined to arm, from which you can't score.

His shoulder was clearly off.

Give it a rest.

Re: The generic transfer thread

Still, £10m is an insane fee to agree either in the Championship or for a player that usually gets shipped back to the Championship the moment his team gets promoted. Happened once, at Leicester. He played 65 times for Brighton in the PL in two seasons. The maths aren't awful. Knockaert was signed ...

Re: VAR

A rule that absolute needs to change is that things can't be 're-refereed'. It's one of the fundamental weakness of the review system that its first aim is to ensure that the on-field referees are not 'undermined'. Why should we give a fcuk if the officials have already looked at an incident, if the...

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

It begs the question, was it a mistake letting Lovren go after all? He wasn’t amazing of course but you’re looking really short there now VVD had played every minute in the league for two years. Then you've got Matip, Gomez and Fabinho (who for six months has arguably looked as good at centre-back ...

Re: England - the future....

That last bit is what is most surprising Vic - that last year we were playing decent, attacking football and Southgate genuinely looked like the right man to take this exciting group of players forward. I don't really understand where his change in approach has come from. It's a cliche about players...

Re: The generic transfer thread

Pepe the Horseman I dunno who the fcuk Karlan Grant is, but WBA are paying Huddersfield £15m for him.

Goalscorer in the EFL, broadly a goal every other game for Huddersfield, Charlton (League One) and Crawley. But he looked nowhere for Huddersfield in the PL before they went down.

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Didn't they just have a decent result at Norwich? Seems extremely knee jerk to sack him so soon into the season. He did a decent job last season too. Genuinely can't remember - did something happen at Derby to adjust expectations downward from Lampard getting them to the play-offs? They finished 10...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Unsurprising rumours that Cocu will be gone at Derby if they lose tomorrow to be replaced by Rooney. Rooney doesn't have his badges so will likely have Mike Phelan as #2 as he does. Didn't they just have a decent result at Norwich? Seems extremely knee jerk to sack him so soon into the season. He d...
