Re: Euro 2016 Thread

And how are you finding it? Just back from the reception at the team hotel.. Got a few selfies with Quinn and Long. Had a 2 minute conversation with Roy Keane who was lovely but probably because I led with the line "Hi Roy, I'm from Cork its a pleasure to meet you" Spoke to Quinn for 4-5 ...

Re: Euro 2016 Thread

I've been living in paris for the past 6 months and will be going to the Irish national team training on Thursday. Will finally get to meet Shane Long. Anything I should ask Quinn about the state of affairs at Reading? And how are you finding it? Just back from the reception at the team hotel.. Got...

Re: The "who do you want next as manager "poll

MmmMonsterMunch 8 pages in & not one mention of Steve Bruce. He's first on my list. Fantastic managerial record & massively underrated IMO.

I mentioned him in another thread as the ideal target if Hull get rid.

Re: An analysis of Reading's current situation

Just quickly on the "waiting 3 weeks" thing. Is it not possible the owners had a meeting with him to discuss their vision and the season ahead and Brian didn't match their ambition/expectations?

It's not like the meeting would have been the day after the last game right?

Re: Owners/board signing players - has it EVER worked?

No smoke without fire. It works at a higher level as the two big Spanish clubs would testify. At Reading's level with owners who have neither the money or the footballing knowledge to get the right players in then it is far less likely to work. The owners aren't making any signings. The people iden...

Re: McDermott out - Jaap Stam in....

heard that Stam is likely to walk away, as he is not happy with the transfer budget offered. Now that the lack of kitty 'cat' is out the bag(!!) this will probably mean we can only get someone like Warnock in who's suited to a small budget Hes probably in the bottom 5 managers I want to see at Read...

3points surely it's got to be an "end" rather than a "stand"?

Re: An analysis of Reading's current situation

Ok my only other question is about royal elm park. The only other club I can think of that did a similar thing is Franchise FC. Hasn't that actually helped them somewhat? They have a fairly quality academy producing some talented youngsters. Could some of this not be put down to the increased incom...

Re: New RFC manager person specification

In an ideal World I agree RL. But as soon as any of these youngsters are any good they want to move on and play for bigger clubs. They would show no loyalty to Reading. Gone are they days where you get many of the teams players racking up hundreds and hundreds of appearance. It's all just a profit ...

Re: New RFC manager person specification

Is there not a rumour that Bruce might get the sack? Hes a proven success at Championship level. I think Bruce would be a superb choice given the circumstances. Here's another one to add to his bow: - works well despite nutcase owners If he was sacked (its going to feel weird to say this) Is Bruce ...

Re: An analysis of Reading's current situation

Just a quick point (I'm half way through and may return to add to this later) is Danzell signing indicative of the owners wanting to be in control of transfers or is it our current dutch DOF signing players he's familiar with thus doing his job? Ok my only other question is about royal elm park. The...

Re: Thais OUT!!!!!!!!

If they do rename the mad stad maybe renaming it the Madejski Stand would be a good compromise. Keeps the recognition of Sir John and increases revenue hopefully with a good stadium sponsor
