Re: Enjoying or hating the no football era?

When we do get around to a restart here is my suggestion. Finish this seasons fixtures, followed by playoffs (or just promote the top 3/4 teams). Relegation as usual. Four week break before starting 2020/21 season to the following format. Premier league 38 games as usual (no European matches)* Each...

Re: We simply must top this list.............

The Cube I'm a bit puzzled. That's a BBC article and there's no Manchester United option. Are the BBC trying to pretend that they never got relegated?

Also surprised they haven’t included Arsenal’s incredible run to 5th place in 1915 seeing as they have Forest’s amazing 3rd place finish in 1976.

Re: 2019/20 Season - How will it end?

Latest rumour is that the season in the four professional divisions in England will completed but in a typical manner so as not to upset any team at the top of their division or in a relegation battle. Therefore promotion will still happen based on ppg ratio but relegation won’t. The League Cup next...

Re: Worst Reading games

Boxing Day 2003. 0-3 at home to Wimbledon. Wimbledon were morphing into Franchise FC and were hated by their own fans, who'd started boycotting games. We surrendered 3-0 for the third game running. Fans were turning against Coppell and it wouldn't have been a surprise if Mr Mad had sacked him (he v...

Re: Enjoying or hating the no football era?

Latest suggestion being mooted (and it sounds like a typical committee “let’s not upset anyone” arrangement) is to both end and seemingly void the season. https://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/premier-league-plan-affect-reading-18182324 Would presumably mean quite a few relegatio...

Re: Dave Kitson`s plan to oust Gordon Taylor

Dave gives 101 questions regarding the PFA and it’s policies. The question “If not, why not” seems to be quite prevalent though which presumably says something about the current PFA as an organisation.

Wonder how much support there will be from all professional players.

Re: Worst ever Reading FC X1

Lee Nogan  We recouped most of our transfer fee when we sold him. Was he our record signing? According to wiki we paid £250k for him. Overall I thought he was a decent signing. I think our previous record signing was the aforementioned Craig Maskell also for £250k. I'm being provocative. I l...

Fox Talbot Michael O'Neill, Yakubu and Jason Roberts all good shouts.

Like the idea of 'The Ones That Got Away XI' - Charlie Austin, Jimmy Hill, Peter Osgood (allegedly), Mike Walker.

Re: Worst Reading games

Come to think of it my mate came to the Huddersfield play off final, and said it was the worst game he’d ever seen. I'd like to see it again just to check how bad it was. Even if we'd won the shoot-out I'd have felt appalled. From what little I recall they had two (+?) easy chances early on and then...

Why is Stuart Gray upfront? Who is A Smith? I genuinely don't remember Andrew Taylor playing for us, and it was only 4 years ago  Alex Smith. Free from Port Vale in the early 2000's. I think he actually player in the season we went up. Started the season in the team and even got an assist fro...

Worst Reading games

What I’m thinking of here are those games from down the ages where both Reading and the opposition were quite dreadful whether Reading won, drew or lost rather than those games where Reading were just awful One real challenger has to be the 0-0 with QPR that saw both clubs totally failing to make an...

Perhaps this season should simply be scrapped FFP wise and therefore not counted. It’d give relief to all clubs and save all sorts of arguments and debate on what should and shouldn’t be included and what thresholds should be allowed etc.

Re: The Non - League thread

I can see the football league only letting one club up, to replace Bury, and scrapping all other promotion and relegation. Leeds and WBA will be fuming, but if the premier league do likewise, there wouldn't be spots for them to be promoted into anyway. I did see in Scotland that in the West Scotlan...
