Re: Back from the game...

Well done to all the posters who got back from the game within an hour. Makes a change being home 40 minutes after the end of the game rather than the 4hrs+ it takes after a home game. Managed to tag along in front of the Star coaches so the police kindly stopped the traffic all the way to t...

Re: Back from the game...

Agreed to an extent. Wouldn't say we looked casual but we clearly ran out of ideas and started to look shaky. Burnley are a decent enough team to take advantage and yes, you could see the sucker punch coming.

Back from the Burnley game...

First half we were pretty good, created some decent chances but poor finishing and great goalkeeping kept us out. Their only chances of note both came from Rosenior losing his footing. Hahnemann did well on the first chance, their forward should have buried the second, scuffing a tame shot straight ...

Both penalty claims, I'd the blame the linesman for those.

I thought Foy was mediocre, which by today's standards, is pretty good.

Re: Jeering the French anthem

The Algerians were instrumental in bringing down the French 4th Republic so play a huge and significant role in modern French history, although they're more interesting in killing each other these days. Somehow, I think Sarkozy would absolutely shit himself at even the slightest prospect of them hos...

Re: The craziest thing you,ve done to follow Reading?

Last day of the spring term at uni, was getting kicked out of my house on the Friday. Missed the last train home so am traipsing round Manchester with all my worldly possessions in tow. Next train to Reading 6am in the morning. Bumped into a mate and decided to go on a pub crawl. Cut a long story sh...

Re: Kitson wants out

And Wales surely isn't north, it's, well, west. :| North Wales is certainly in the north. DIRK No way is Cheshire part of the Midlands. You are having a laff. To be fair Cheshire is the one I had the least confidence in - that's the most borderline. Stockport is in the North, but Chester is virtual...

Re: Favourite Reading XI

Ian Royal Morley - 20+ goals in a crap side. The only player I've ever seen score a penalty rebound with his head.

A penalty rebound that was no more than 6 inches off the ground.

Dariuz
Murty

Gilkes
Gooding
Osborn
Taylor

Quinn
Bremner

Subs: Hislop, Kerr, Williams, Parky, Harper, Senior, Kitson

Bit of a 93-95 bias there. I loved that team

Can't make the Donny game on Tuesday but am only 30 minutes from Accrington so might go and watch Gylfi instead.

Dunno, was sending a text, heard a commotion, looked up and saw Noel Hunt having a go at him.

Back from the Preston game

Tonight's theme is frustration. Hit the woodwork twice, their keeper pulls off 2 excellent saves, a certain goal cleared off the line and a stonewall penalty turned down in the last minute. Unlucky to lose? Not really. A chronic lack of focus and concentration with our defence most cuplable. Marcus ...

Re: Jeering the French anthem

I'm not English so that's a moot point but I find the booing of any national anthem somewhat disrespectful. Nationality is purely a quirk of birth. I get the feeling that the type of England fan who boos other national anthems or takes pleasure in the booing of other anthems is just the type to get ...

Re: RUMOUR - Lee Camp

Lee Camp. Wasn't he the Derby keeper who dropped a last minute winner straight onto Cureton's foot at the Mad Stad about 7 years ago? Only time I've seen him play. Still, he does have a very good reputation, is fairly young and has a lot of experience. Would be an excellent signing. EDIT: My mistake...

Spacey, if a similar thing happened at Wembley with people booing the English anthem, I trust you would find it equally funny.

Re: Simon Church

To be honest if the choice of benchwarmer was a young academy prospect keen to prove his worth or a demotivated, want away striker, irrespectve of proven ability, I know which one I'd pick. If Church wasn't considered of sufficient promise, the club would not have been given him a professional contr...

Re: Championship Match fixing. Who could it be???

Well, I was looking at the Telegraph article for clues and spotted: (a) "recent Championship game" (b) "a massive movement at around half-time" (c) "the handicap made an enormous, unexplained swing that would indicate a major on-field event when nothing of that nature had o...

Re: Championship Match fixing. Who could it be???

The Carroll sending off was fairly clear cut.

Barnsley hadn't scored in 4 matches, have a man sent off at 1-0 down and then win 4-1. I know it was against Doncaster, but still......

Re: England v Kazakhstan 11/10/08 KO:17.15

Thought Kazakhstan did a pretty good job of getting men behind the ball and closing England down in the first half. Credit to them for making a game of it for the first hour. Seems to be the key for smaller nations playing against ENgland, stick men behind the ball and they will always strugle to br...
