Re: Next Season's Squad.

Great analysis of Nova here. https://thetilehurstend.sbnation.com/2019/7/23/20702597/further-reading-the-promising-potential-of-andrija-novakovich-reading-fc-royals I'd still like another CF, but if it's not possible I'd go Barrow-Nova-Meite as a front 3 with Baldock and Loader bench options. I agre...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

If Adam is fit, in his interview he said he'd got a few games under his belt - so assume he is, he has to start unless we sign another midfielder. Signing Adam and putting him on the bench when starting Swift as Rino's partner has to be some sort of crime. When our form was good last year - what wa...

Any more out the door?

I know we've all been focused on incoming recently; rightfully so. But is there any more scope for players leaving? By my count, we still have Guntet, McCleary, Meyler and McNulty still on the books this year, who will offer very little to our playing squad. Given the Gourlay era, I wouldn't be surp...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

It's starting to take shape. Get in Ejaria, one more CM/CDM and an attacking option and I'd say we've got a team capable of 15th or so.

Re: Next Season's Squad.

It's like in the good old days of Championship manager when I started with a League 2 team and tried to loan pretty much any Reserve player in the premier league for 0 fee. Sometimes ended up with a completely random squad. I once took Yeovil town to the Premier League and scraped survival with a 3...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

Courtney Friday now tweeting Miazga loan may be on. Even if CB is no longer a priority position to fill, we'd be mad not to if the opportunity is there I'm constantly baffled by our transfer activity and the lack of any apparent plan. Miazga returning would be awesome, yet we've already signed a ce...

Re: Matt Miazga

I'd be delighted to get him back; I actually think our squad looks alright at CB but when you get a chance to sign a player of this calibre you take it.

If it doesn't work out, no need to bring in Heneghan or anybody else. If it does happen, McIntyre should go out on loan for the year.

Re: Next Season's Squad.

33, hasn't started 20 league games in a season in the last 5 years. In fact he's made less than 10 league starts in the last two seasons combined. Not what I'd hope for in a partner for Rino. If we can get 30 decent performances out of him it would both surprising and great. Agreed not an inspiring...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

Anybody else thinking relegation looks likely unless Howe and Gomes pull a few surprises out of the bag? I just think the experience and depth is not up to the task of a long, gruelling Championship season. There are 5 or 6 other teams who will have similar concerns so maybe we'll hang in. It's frus...

⁶Re: Rumour - John Bostock

Overhyped wonderkid clearly, but Ligue 1 in France is a good level to be playing at. Plays a role we desperately need. Would be happy. Is he out of favour? I expect he'd command a fee beyond our means if he was a first team regular. Forest & Brentford also after him...you’d think he’d pick eith...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

Without Baker coming back, surely McEachran on a free is a decent shout? He's a technical midfielder who likes to sit deep and try to dictate; he would be perfect foil for Rino. Age 26, 150 or so apps at this level. I know he was released, but Brentford are a good side who should be aiming at top 6....

Re: Ex Players

I'm sure Wenger didn't sign Henry with the express plan of converting him to a striker. I'm also sure Henry was much younger and less fully formed as a player. You're just being daft now. He was 22 had made 120something league apps and was certainly bought by his former manager to play as a striker...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

I've seen a few people suggest Swift alongside Rino, behind Ejaria. No, no, no! In 3 years at the club, Swift has only ever played well in a more advanced role with defensive cover behind him. It gives him freedom to try things and get in the box. And he's actually pretty shit in a deeper role. Ejar...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

It will make having a player like Baker all the more important. Someone to sit deep, good on and off the ball, decent tackler and has a wide range of passing. God that's actually asking a lot. Remind me why Baker isnt being snapped up by a club like Brighton or Burnley right now? because he was awf...

Re: CONFIMRED - Michael Morrison

Not the MM signing I (and I think most of us) would have preferred, but Matt Miazga seems unlikely to be headed back to Reading, so M Morrison seems a good step forward. Miazga was always an enormous long shot. We have to be realistic - we are a club with FFP difficulties who are expected to strugg...
