Re: Palace(H) friendly Saturday July 28th

Does world class then basically mean best in the world? And how many players does that extend to - 10? I'd say a player is world class if he's the kind of player you'd seriously consider if you were trying to list a World XI. People have different views though. I seem to recall an Northern Irish pl...

Re: Palace(H) friendly Saturday July 28th

Can't really blame Moore for handing in a transfer request. He clearly knows what's gonna happen to us this season. Will be interesting to know what's driven him to this point though. He always gave a lot even when things were going wrong. Just odd its taken this long. As for today. No surprise rea...

Re: Palace(H) friendly Saturday July 28th

Go into the season expecting a relegation fight. Show some character and suck it up, the job to turn us around is going to take at least two seasons. We need to trim the squad and make it healthy again. We've started doing that, don't bottle it now because of one bad pre-season result. This is the ...

Re: Next seasons kit choice?

Rather amusingly for officianardo's of The League of Gentlemen, FC Duisburg also play in blue and white hoops and their 18/19 kit isn't half bad: https://www.msv-zebrashop.de/Heimtrikot-18/19.htm?websale8=msv-duisburg&pi=15-6772&ci=19-1942 Herr Lipp would approve I'm sure. .. At €64.90 you'...

Re: Lateness of kit release?

Also, this tactic was decided by the Reading Marketing team as footfall at the stadium during the offseason is low, this being a problem of it being out-of-town stadium, and with no club shop in the town centre. Releasing the shirt closer to the start of the season were we have the home preseason f...

Re: Next seasons kit choice?

We’ve never released a kit after the season has started, so it’s never been late. I'm sure the away kit has been released after the season has started on several occasions. Released, as in on sale at the shop. You may well be right for one occasion on reflection. However the notion that we release ...

Re: RUMOUR - George Evans to Sunderland

Good, hope Evans stays get real, he is going. The Sunderland chairman has tweeted that the bid has been accepted, and the Sunderland Echo says this: The bid for Evans has been accepted, with the player expected to undergo a medical once he returns from Reading's pre-season tour in Austria. Tough ti...

Re: Slough away or fulham at that place in hampshire

I do like the look of Pelle Clement. Played left mid when he came on, couple of great turns and a good driving run which he couldn’t finish. Definite potent there. Good to see him improving. For a long time I just couldn't see what he offered. He didn't seem creative, nor able to defend. He didn't ...

So, in essence, rather than the ref making an instant decision rightly or wrongly, he now gets to stop play, think about it and then make a decision rightly or wrongly. Therefore all that’s happened is the game gets stopped unnecessarily while it takes longer to establish the same controversial dec...

Re: Greyhound parking

How is the Mereoak Park & Ride? Looks an attractive option but always unsure how many busses run/how often on a matchday? It's generally decent, but it does need the guy who runs the P&R down there kicking the backsides of the council(?) who run the buses every single week . He knows that a...

Re: Greyhound parking

paultheroyal Open up that safety gate too. More so next year with the South Stand option.

I'd rather they put the stairs back, albeit a lot wider so they were dangerous.

It is really annoying having to walk all round the stadium and the hotel to get to the Mereoak bus queue.

Re: World Cup Punditry

First class insight from the ITV team - 17% of goals so far have been scored in the last 15 minutes of games, showing that there have been a lot of late goals.

So that's 17% of the goals scored in the last 17% of matches then.

Re: Fixtures

Remember a few years back teams like Mansfield occasionally turning up in the south section of the football league trophy to balance up the numbers, which gives an idea of the balance of north/south in the footy league. Mansfield is proper northern. In the days of Division 3N and Division 3S, I thi...

Re: World Cup 2026

So with three-team groups, and two teams out of each group going through, FIFA are going to need to do something to stop a Germany v Austria situation arising. The current four-team groups mean they can just have the final games for all group members kicking off at the same time, but this is obviou...

I mean, yeah, if you want to look at a still it's ambiguous, but the video couldn't be clearer that he's caught and impeded. the video, from that angle, doesn't show where the contact started. This isn't a conclusion make by looking at that still. That's just the only replay I could find (I made th...

Re: World Cup 2018

If play stops you can't go back once play restarts. Also, are we now saying that the Peru penalty that was missed wasn't a penalty!? Because it was blatant, his back foot was clipped out from under him as he went to step with it to open up the space for a shot. I think he was going down before the ...

Re: World Cup 2018

Sure this has been covered before, but how far can you go back with VAR? Say someone's offside, but it's not given, goes out for a corner, then they score from the resulting corner. Can you go back to the initial offside? Or would it get picked up before the corner's taken? If play stops you can't ...

Re: World Cup 2018

Is that Cueva actually of English descent, only way I can explain the true awfulness of that penalty. Justice was done, as I really can't fathom how that was deemed a penalty. You had a play already going down, who, half a second before he actually hits the deck, manages to stretch a leg out enough...
