Re: SpuROFLs

Not sure that necessarily makes him a bad player. It doesn't make him a bad player as such no, but I'm putting his state of mind and motivation down as major factors in his form over the last 12/18 months. He's not looked half the player since he wasn't allowed to leave at the same time as Walker (...

Re: SpuROFLs

Current England international Danny Rose is past it? Mourinho wouldn't have gone there unless he was allowed to spend, at least initially anyway. Can see Spurs getting a few out in January and bringing 5/6 top players in. If, and I appreciate that this is a bit of a big if, Shaw was fit he'd be in ...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Mourinho is a great manager and good for the English game. I think he will be a roaring success. You misspelt was OMA... Think we will only know for sure when we see what he does at Spurs, there is no reason that squad shouldn't be doing well. United are clearly a basketcase and he wasn't backed pr...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

...In hindsight he did a fantastic job at United with those players to come 2nd in the League. I disagree to an extent. That side he had was pretty decent and just looks worse in hindsight because of how badly things went wrong once Mourinho and the players copped the hump, the dynamic massively ch...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Mourinho appointed.    poor old Spurs! That's just a bizarre appointment. Talk about a mismatch  Exactly. At least at United they shared a willingness to splash the cash on established stars, even if their style and approach to how the game should be played were polar oppo...

Re: England - the future....

Perhaps. I just took into account as well that Almiron, who was supposed to be the missing creative spark in Newcastle's attack, has really struggled so far. I suppose it's whether or not you put that down to rigid tactics or adapting to another country For example, Serge Gnabry joining Pulis at We...

Re: England - the future....

Neither Winks nor Rice look quite good enough to me and Rice looks more likely to develop into a international defensive midfielder. Winks isn't ever going to be defensive enough to provide the steel and cover we think we need against the better sides. Rice could add that, in the long term. Current...

Re: England - the future....

Would like to see Foden have a short loan in January. Somewhere like Everton or Newcastle would be ideal, go and be the star of the show and play competitive football each week. Agree with the principle that Foden needs a loan elsewhere but you have to put him in the correct environment. There’s no...

Re: England - the future....

What did you think of Winks last night? I thought that he took his goal well but , on the downside, he gave the ball away too much, a s did Mings, Trent and Hudson-Odoi. Also in a game that wasn't played and refereed like a friendly he would have been booked for persistent fouling. As for Barkley h...

Re: England - the future....

How anonymous was Mason Mount last night by the way? People bang on about Barkley not deserving a place in the side, but if Mount is the alternative I don't see how anyone could make an argument for Mount based on his England appearances to date. He's obviously still young and inexperienced, and is...

Re: England - the future....

Foden should be ahead of all the aforementioned young midfielders. Still too early for Foden. Next season, when he replaces David Silva , we will see whether he is up to it. Only because he’s not getting game time. If he was at Chelsea he’d be playing and probably be a starter for England I suspect...

Re: England - the future....

On the matter of booing did others hear it directed at Gomez when he came on as sub? Priceless. I didn't notice it to be honest, but I wasn't paying too much attention by the time he came on. I did see the camera focus in on Sterling though, and he made the point of clapping him on. Fair play to St...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

It possibly doesn't matter how many times they met, Warnock wanted him, Cardiff signed him. If that hadn't happened he'd still be alive today.

That is likely to have an impact on you, unless you're a total sociopath, even if you'd never met them.

Re: England - the future....

Southgate has shown he isn't a good enough man manager to turn the situation into a positive I'm afraid. Most of the public, pundit opinion is against Southgate on this. I disagree, and from what I've seen and read the split is about 60/40 in favour, albeit with some of those who support it questio...

Re: England - the future....

Sterling is our best player, he should be playing regardless of what he does (within reason). He wants to win, Gomez wants to win. Southgate should have turned this into a positive. I think the timing and handling of it is excellent. One of the things that has consistently held us back is a lack of...

Royal Rother Aaron Kuhl playing for Slough Town tonight.

I think he was turning out for Basingstoke earlier in the season. Assume he left there when his old man left then and is now trying to make his way back up the pyramid after his injury problems.

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

Having finally seen the TAA handball incident, I think, on balance, the ref got it right. His arm wasn't way up away from his body, the ball appears to hit his side first and his arm didn't move towards the ball. If that happened in a Reading game, I'd be mightily pissed off if that was given again...
