Re: BFTG Swansea Away

Boye has ability, but will need to be more disciplined, be a team player, play under control. (Beat 2 men, at most, but then get his head up and pass/create, etc.). Has some defensive traits too. Hope he evolves, and should maybe be an impact sub til then. At 23 he's still a young player, adjusting ...

Re: Puscas speculation.

We don't exactly try to play to his strengths, or give him a decent partner to work with. Or feed him much but scraps. Don't think his miss against Swansea was inexcusable either. Bit of a loose ball on the up he had to snatch at, possibly a bit behind him. Obviously you want it to go in and I expe...

Re: The Non - League thread

Interesting interview with Terry Brown, Basingstoke chairman on the Non League podcast regarding their pretty dire situation. They have a 30 year covenant to play at the Camrose ground. The current owner cannot obtain planning permission for development there unless he funds their new ground at Win...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wolverhampton Wanderers (a) sponsored by Sammy Chung

Howie wasn't even the worst keeper at the club at the time he was here. We had Peter van der Kwaak as well. Not to mention others like Gary Phillips, Nick Colgan and Simon Shepherd. Virginia is definitely deserves to be in that sort of company though. He's been worth a goal start to the opposition ...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

I think Roberts played for the U23 the other night didn't he? Loader is ooc at the end of this season Myles must have completed his loan then. He played v Havant & W on 24 Aug Re Danny, did some checking on transfermarkt website and they have June 2022 down as his contract expiry. Don’t know ho...

Re: Nova leaves on permanent deal

Sad to see him go, but Puscas, Joao and Meite with Loader up and coming? Which of those would you drop for him? In an ideal world with money growing on trees keep everyone, but overall I'd rather the above minus Nova. Yep, I hear ya. We only got Joao, Puscas and Boye across the line very late in th...

Re: Nova leaves on permanent deal

on the face of it it looks like he wasn't given a chance at reading despite being sucessfull elsewhere and so on. but because of that there must be something in training that makes him not worth taking a chance on. surely just based on his stats alone you would give him more of a chance - how bad m...

Re: Crowd for Charlton

We got to 3rd and then Wembley under Stam and I hated the season. I'm not explaining myself very well here... many of the backs-to-the-wall games we then nicked 1-0, THEY brought joy (IMO, to me). They felt special, that whole season did, because we out-did ourselves, we found something more. Heh, ...

Re: BFTG - Charlton

Good away performance by Charlton in the Champ. Survive early storms, get it to 0-0 at HT, and go from there. Did what they had to do and came to do. Didn't look 'special' doing it, but they weren't trying to be. As you'd expect, well versed in the dark arts under Bowyer, which is effective in these...

Right on HT, Puscas one on one with keeper, good save, but he has to bury that really.

Charlton impressive, had more possession than us, passed it around well, also done the niggly/dirty stuff too.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Charlton Athletic (h) sponsored by Dave Shipperley

John Madejski's Wallet Looking good on the ball so far

Should have scored the one that hit the crossbar as Charlton look like they've got a goal in them.

We've shaded it, without having many efforts on target.

Yes, Charlton playing it around well and look dangerous.

Lot's of fouls, ref struggling to control it.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Charlton Athletic (h) sponsored by Dave Shipperley

Sad, very sad. Bury are part of something different. Bury are part of what makes football in the UK. You don't have to have a minutes silence for Bury, have one for the destruction of football. Man Utd, Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs etc are all part of the international jetsetting mu...

Rinomhota - 5 - Did pretty poor but the team was so tired around him. Rino a 5? Well, fine margins and that was a crucial sub. I wouldn’t have done it and risked a priceless 3 pts, away in this div vs that club in their park. You have to get that win across the line. At all costs. Period. There’s a...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

IThe 6-8 lads who were close must be gutted. Maybe the championship gets harder every year etc Well, in the Champ it’s a balance, right? You may be a lot closer to the Academy than me these days, but I’m unaware 6-8 kids were Champ ready this season. Would be an unusually high quota if they were. I...

Just the 15 league games. No word ever about the cups. You’ll have to find your own tenner for Wycombe. :D Was thinking more about Newcastle away in the second round  You’d think the club might extend the offer for long distance cup games but I don’t think we should expect them to or feel bad...

But it's a relatively young team who are learning to play together; I fully expect inconsistency and some bafflingly poor performances to go against games like Sunday. Well, sure. And you can have that happen with an old, experienced team too. Yep, agree, there may be inconsistencies with young pla...

Re: BFTG - Cardiff

A lucky win against a poor side. Gomes - left out Rino??? Luckily it paid off for him. Ref - gave everything our way, without him we might've struggled. Rafael 3 - dodgy punches, not convincing in an easy game for him Morrison, Miazga, Moore - 2 each. Some scary moments in defence, they almost scor...
