Re: Selles In

Great stuff. I do worry that we are not as far from the relegation places as the article suggests, especially with any more points deductions. But the article gives me confidence we can survive on merit. I was at the Cambridge game, it was very impressive. OTOH if we do survive, the thousands of di...

Re: Rival Watch

Pepe the Horseman
Clyde1998 Not quite a relegation rival anymore, but Carlisle beating Stevenage 1-0. NGW has come off the bench for Stevenage at half-time.

2-0 now. Hopefully means Carlisle will survive long enough to give Cheltenham a good game.

2-2. Doesn't mean much, Carlisle are done anyway.

Re: Rival Watch

This would be Northampton's first win in 6. Similar to Carlisle a few weeks ago, I'm glad the streak ends before we play them.

Re: Have your go at being ITK

I'd guess only a handful of ITKs are making things up. Most will know somebody and will have heard something. But even in a normal M&A situation things move quickly and you risk being made to look a fool, let alone when Dai is involved. Earnshaw is viewed as reputable but his 24 - 48 hours has p...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Agree with this but you’re rational, he isn’t, he has shown no intention of selling up to now just empty words As wildly irrational as he is, I can't see any logic at all to turning down a decent offer. With the now publicised restriction on Bearwood, selling that off becomes far more difficult, an...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

If any private equity firm or hedge fund want an idea of the potential prize, Ipswich's owners just sold a 40% stake for £105m, valuing them at a whopping £262.5m. I think some is ringfenced for investment in infrastructure and staff as opposed to buying the shares. But it shows what returns can be ...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

I 5hink we all know by know how this will almost certainly play out now. You just have to hope his rational self interest wins the day in the end. He gets nothing from the club if he doesn't sell. He's tried asset stripping and selling the training ground and it has failed. As difficult as he seems...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

So 2 parties left, one of which is reported to be Genevra. The other will either be Chiron Sports Group or the Minnesota Vikings guys. Eddie reporting Sports.com walked because they didn't want to put in a deposit to cover the shortfall while Dai still had the power to pull the plug. Perfectly ratio...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Dai basically made two mistakes, but they're both pretty bad. 1) Put too much of his own money into the squad rather than follow the profit and sustainability rules (which would probably have led to better recruitment), ultimately forcing us to work under EFL sanctions for years on end. 2) Ran out ...

Re: Rival Watch

Only 3 games in L1 tomorrow, but one is Burton Albion v Port Vale which is massive for both of them. Draw suits us best, but if there has to be a winner I'd prefer Burton help bury Vale.

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

I am starting to wonder if this is all too late to keep the current team together and we'll have another rebuild next season. If a deal completes in May, it will be after the season ends and the new owners won't have a chance to make their mark or convince staff and players that their future lies he...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

So would being owned by a hedge fund organisation be a good thing (other than just "not being Dai")? Being owned by anyone other than Dai can only be a good thing; obviously, if we get bought by someone (or some organisation) and they continually fail to pay HMRC, pay bills or pay wages, ...

Would there have been scope to redevelop Elm Park instead of building the Madejski? Presumably a more expensive project and more limitations in a residential area.

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

So would being owned by a hedge fund organisation be a good thing (other than just "not being Dai")? If they're a fund, they'll be looking to make a return on us. The price of football podcast suggested 5 - 7 years is their typical life cycle. A great example is Ipswich who were bought ou...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Anyhow, you'd presume the Telegraph article is accurate. Someone high up will know that fans are anxious about the shortfall and will have leaked as unofficial communication. Or there is still a
shortfall and Pang leaked it just to piss around.

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

I think though, Howe has put a step in place that means every bidder has to essentially pass the EFL Checks with him first before he puts them anywhere near the EFL - so we can hope (and it is only hope) that as soon as exclusivity is announced the actual checks may not be much more that reviewing ...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Massive well done to the commercial team btw if they’ve made up a 1m shortfall so quickly Be interesting to see what’s been dreamed up I reckon after spending a fair bit of money on tickets for mates, 3 home shirts and a lot of merchandise I don’t need, I have helped a little  I contributed to...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

And so much for Wycombe's owners rescuing us. Sounds like if they hadn't followed up on Bearwood, this would already be done. 5 months on we're basically back to where we were before they were shown around.

I know it's the owner and not the club, but plenty of fans happy to buy Couhig's bullshit.

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

As short term as it may be, I think we are mostly all on the same page - if whatever group comes in passes the low bar tests and then just keeps us ticking over and invests, wisely, in the team/club then fine. The alternative doesn't really bare thinking about. If you speak to Wigan fans, Al Hammad...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

John Percy update. Semi reliable but fell for Storey's bullshit. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/03/21/reading-takeover-dai-yongge-considers-offers/ If true, shortfall issues resolve for March. Exclusivity targeted by the end of the month (i.e., next week). Genevra are back. Gotta be hone...
