Re: Selles In

Neither was I. Thing is, even if he only kept his job largely as a result of the circumstances, it does underline how young managers need to be given time to learn the job. They can do all the courses available to man, but the learning curve is incredibly steep when they step into the hot seat. Ther...

Re: Weekend Football

Just shows how good Salah is. Even when he’s “off it” he still produces magic moments that can turn a game.

If he really is off in the summer it could be a tough gig for the new manager.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Leyton Orient (h)

I assume the club has the sales figures to show whether the extra numbers it generates makes it worth it. I'm sure they have, but do they have the vision to see the longer-term positive impact? So they'd need to make the change ahead of a new season, or people complain that they're being ripped off...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Leyton Orient (h)

Easily the highest of the season and a full 1,000 higher than my final pre-match estimate. Would be interesting to see how many Leyton Orient fans turned up as it looked a bit over 2,000. The bus to the game was much busier and the North Stand appeared to be much fuller than usual - so it does matc...

Re: #SellBeforeWeDai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group

It is possible that the whole thing has got to him and he's ceased to think rationally and is willing to cut off his nose to spite his face. I don't know the whole background but its not a conclusion I would jump to. The signs that I am picking up are of someone under pressure who may or may not be...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

One of the greatest managers of all time, but he's arguably done very little for five or six years now. Wonder if he might go to China/Saudi. I can't remember which thread it was in but I said yesterday that I think he is a shoo-in for the Newcastle job this summer. I can see Eddie Howe being let g...

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

How does it work for promoted clubs like Forrest? Are the EFL and Premier League rules the same so they can use 3 years of accounts. Don't think so, they're two different jurisdictions. Bournemouth got fined by the EFL for breaking the rules when they went up, so I don't see how that can have count...

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

Forest have employed leading sports lawyer Nick de Marco to argue their case, which is thought to centre around the sale of Brennan Johnson to Tottenham for up to £45m in September. This took place after the accounting deadline, but Forest argue their negotiating tactics allowed them to generate a ...

Re: Weekend Football

Trouble is, anyone involved in the game at any time in recent memory, will have heard the phrase “he has a perfect right to go down there” so many times that, scandalously, it is now a part of football’s DNA.

But no, it’s not too late to fix it - it just needs the will to do so.

Re: Weekend Football

In the PL the standard of refereeing the game on pitch is better than it's ever been.

The standard of the assistant referees is mind-bogglingly good.

He didn't actually say we've been playing well.

From Despair To Where? I think the problem here Ian is that you're only interested in the sound of your own voice to the point that you blank out most things that you can't argue with.

And find something to argue with even when you do actually agree.

Re: Ade Williams

CHARTON and BUMMINUM are the best for me.

(Bit obtuse but BANG BANG BANG was my way of suggesting the 3 of them all needed a quick bump on the noggin for being ignorant of the fact that multi-ball is across the board this season.)

Re: Selles In

It's funny how in retrospect everyone was always agreeing with me when I'm right, but before the fact I'm always wrong. There's been dozens of match threads on here over the past 4 years where countless posters have bemoaned the lack of defensive cover provided by the midfield, and about how when w...

Re: Weekend Football

NathStPaul Fair play to West Ham, thought they were excellent.

They were indeed, what a year for them. And yet lose a couple of games and the “Moyes out” murmurs will begin again.
