Re: MATCHWATCH : Brentford (h)

I still think squad depth is a very tough thing to balance. We basically have the same players as we had last season but they’re performing much better...no doubt part of that is due to it being much smaller & close knit, with consistency in team selection. Yes we need 1-2 more, or we need to r...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Brentford (h)

Was it earlier in the season that Boro effectively got a free pass by playing Rotherham reserves because of Covid? Why did Brentford get to postpone? I'm particularly bitter because Dasilva was suspended for the original fixture. Missing Swift and Meite today was massive. They had quality on the ben...

Re: Rival Watch

Hourihane is an annoyingly good signing. Yep Norwich have been pretty poor from what I’ve seen. Be out of the top 2 of Brentford and Swansea win their games in hand Narch have been hauled back in. Two points from their last three games. Things can change quickly as we found out earlier in the seaso...

Re: Rival Watch

Yep. Re-emphasise my point about how big the Stoke game is. Others said it wasn’t a must-win but if we want to be a top 6 team and pushing for top 2 we need to 3pts tomorrow Similar to the Preston game. Draw is a solid point for playoff chasers, but not genuine auto promotion candidates. Agree with...

One man team?

  I thought we were reliant upon Joao but that's another level altogether.

Hendo Yeah, draw has got to be the result to hope for tonight. Nice uneventful 0-0.

With a few big injuries thrown in

Re: Rival Watch

The inertia and stagnation at Bournemouth has set in over a couple of years. Do not expect a new manager to turn it around overnight. If we're looking seriously at automatic promotion, Bournemouth are not a genuine rival.

Re: Rival Watch

Neither Watford or Swansea score enough goals. No reason why we can’t finish above both of them. Norwich and Brentford are another matter. surprising with Watford having Sarr, Deeney and Gray - you'd expect scoring to be the least of their worries. They do seem to set up very conservatively - some ...

Re: Rival Watch

With Shane Long on loan at Bournemouth, is our latest play-off heartbreak him scoring the winner at Wembley? Would be in keeping with previous experience.

Re: January window

How much do you think Bournemouth are paying for Long? Too much for our FFP situation? He'd have been great backup for Joao and presumably would have jumped at the chance to come back if we were interested.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bournemouth (h)

Yup I’ve been to all apart from the Simod Final Well it is a bit selfish...but we are owed the Wembley winning experience! So for me, I want either autos or bottle it (with the squad kept in tact for us to win the league next year)! Football is all about the fans, so as much as I’m enjoying the gam...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bournemouth (h)

Michael Morrison and Josh Laurent for a combined fee of zero was a phenomenal piece of scouting. Was unsure about Morrison initially yet here he is, in the form of his life. Laurent as well. The teams confidence can be a bit fragile at times especially looking at when we hit a bad run of form and g...

Re: The Next 6 Games

Does suggest we should have a run of decent fixtures at the back end of the season, so just need to stay in the mix over the next few games Sadly not - Watford, Norwich & Swansea are 3 of last 4 or 5 I believe We can definitely beat Swansea at home with a fit side. Draw at Watford, lose to Norw...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bournemouth (h)

Apparently Bournemouth's starting XI last night was worth £121m Ours was £8m  Worth is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence. It says ‘was’ rather than ‘is’ ! I read that if bmouth don’t go up this year they are financially stuffed. Of course us getting promotion would iron out one or ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bournemouth (h)

We were excellent but can’t get over how bad Bournemouth were esp in the first half How much must they have spent on Danjuma, Solanke, Billing, Brooks, Lerma (£30m? Bloody hell), Mepham, Rico, Kelly etc. Bar Brooks they were all utterly woeful With no doubts huge wages for King, Begovic and others ...

Re: Rival Watch

I’m torn on that Norwich boro game. If boro win then Norwich are only 6 points clear above us - nothing at this stage. But if boro lose then it’s better for our play off bid. The way we are playing at the moment and players coming back to fitness I fear no one in this league now and we should still...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bournemouth (h)

50 / 50. Joao can't break contact. If he stays the gap isn't big enough even with Semedo being a wimp. How can anyone blame Semedo for that? Joao got so far out of the way you’d think he planned it with Bournemouth. Morrison and Rafael seemed pretty sure that Semedo was equally to blame (Aluko and ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bournemouth (h)

I think the intensity was the big difference today Everybody up for it and closing them down much more than in recent games Let’s hope that can be continued (although I reckon it will only happen against a big side) VP has them fired up for this run of games. Stoke are the last of the teams to infl...

Re: January window

Sutekh Jokull Andresson off to Exeter for the rest of the season

VP advises Reading still talking with both McIntyre and Richards over new deals.

Andresson looks like a prospect. Add in Southwood and CBC and our academy looks like it's producing a good conveyor belt of talented keepers again.

Re: January window

I'd definitely give Morro another year whatever tbh. Would rather try to get Holmes a full season somewhere in Div1/champ if poss Maybe I get carried away with Holmes. Looking at our recent run, he was at fault for several Swansea chances and Huddersfield's goal, not to mention lucky to stay on the...
