Re: How Long Will BM Last at this rate?????

McDermott has the job until he doesn't want it any more, and rightly so.

Hopefully that will be during the off-season so Dolan can take over smoothly.

Re: The Great Keeper Deb8

I've got to agree with Stephanie there, Reading FC are an absolute joke of a club. They give Federici a contract when every other club in the country turned him down, played him at Old Trafford, made him their first choice goalkeeper, paid him millions of pounds, helped him become an international g...

Re: The Great Keeper Deb8

McCarthy might well be a future England international, somehow I suspect Feds' future is more League One level. Hart and Butland have the England keeper position sewn up for the next 10-15 years and both are already far better than McCarthy will ever be. Wow, this is almost as laughable as Ideal's ...

Re: SPECULATION - Jose Baxter

Baxter has really stalled since coming through Everton's academy. He is the same age as Jack Rodwell. One is an England international and plays for the best team in the country, the other has been rejected by Crystal Palace. What they did five years ago against mickey mouse opposition is irrelevant....

Re: If you could pick one player from our last top-flight...

Sonko - pre-injury. This. He would form a really good partnership with Gorkss. My next choice would be Shorey, because he was so much better than he or Harte are now. Then I'd want Convey so we could have a left footed winger who isn't HRK/Obita. Lastly, Doyle. I would say Kitson, but he is too sim...

Re: Jem Karacan - High Average Speed

It's impressive, though I can't help but feel the one game sample for him and max three games for everyone else, makes it a little meaningless right now. I think you've misinterpreted the stat, it's for highest average speed over 1 match rather than over the season, hence why Kagawa was on there tw...

Re: The Great Keeper Deb8

In football manager DB terms, Feds is a goalie with a potential ability rating of circa 125-135, which means he's good enough for league one and chumpionship at a stretch. McCarthy is would be rated -2 and receive a random rating of 150-200 when you start a savegame. I'm probably missing the point ...

Re: Academy Status

Z175 Academy inspectors are in this weekend. Fingers crossed we'll get the nod, though I doubt it as I'm sure they'll be biased towards "big clubs".

I don't think that is a fair accusation at all. Newcastle have been overlooked, for example, though Middlesbrough are Category 1.

Re: Championship Winner Medals

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Dobson_(footballer) This delightful looking chap. He played in the last game against Stoke I think. Stoke wasn't the last game, QPR was (remember Murty's penalty). You are right that Dobson played against Stoke. Do players that had played and went on loan (Manse...

Re: RUMOUR - Bertrand, Clyne and Zaha

Bertrand has just signed a 5 year deal with Chelsea, well done him, great future ahead of him for sure. Yep, must be recieving decent wages now as well. Chelsea pay their young players ridiculous wages so he was probably receiving a very decent wage anyway. As an example, Nathaniel Chalobah is on £...

I am not being harsh here at all. I have only seen titbits of the guy in action for Bologna - not enough to know much about him and form much of an opinion. I just think football is more than about living in a world where: Spent a lot of money on a player + read a couple of people rate him highly =...

Re: Colours to the mast, pick your relegation candidates

Snowball (who I have a bit of time for) even analyses our squad and runs all of them down. He doesn't actually come to any conclusion, but the gist of his post is that we will be relegated. I wonder what he would have said about the 2006/07 squad. For what it's worth, I have every confidnce that th...

Re: 433/451 vs 442

I don't like the 4-5-1 variant we are using now with Legs and Karacan sitting and Guthrie behind Pogrebnyak. I would have Legs shielding the defence with Guthrie and Karacan acting like a normal midfield pair in front of him, Guthrie spraying passes around and Karacan pressing. That would probably m...

LoyalRoyalFan Don't be ridiculous.

Sign an attacking midfielder? The club couldn't wait to get rid of Matejovsky.

We only sold him because we had Sigurdsson keeping him out the side.

Re: Kebe or McCleary

McCleary OTOH has speed, directness, a very good football brain, plenty of skill, a decent shot. So far he's WAY more useful that Jimmy has been. Secondly, the right-hand side partnership Gunter-McCleary is a lot better tan Cummings-Kebe. Gunter looks the real deal to me. The first paragraph is obv...
