Re: The 24/25 Season of Optimism Thread

Generally agree things are looking positive if the takeover happens, but posted this on the Rovers match thread about why I think 2026 may be a more realistic target for promotion. If the takeover happens and we keep the bulk of this team plus the manager together next year, there's reasons to be op...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bristol Rovers (a)

If the takeover happens and we keep the bulk of this team plus the manager together next year, there's reasons to be optimistic. Could could our situation this season have given us an extra edge we risk losing? It's been the team and the fans against the world, fighting for the club's survival. It w...

Right Chiron, we're staying up. Get the deal done. Contracts exchanged before the Blackpool game would make an amazing final day.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bristol Rovers (a)

FT, and in Cheltenham too. Basically safe. If P'boro beat Vale tomorrow, we'd need to lose all 3 and have pretty much every result go against us. Could well be confirmed with a win on Saturday given Barnsley's form.

I don’t think so.

The maths aren't important really. If results stay as they are, we're safe.

People said the same about us and Fulham in that second prem season.

We're miles ahead of where we were then. Plus we'd need 2 teams to do something ridiculous, not 1.

Clyde1998 Can’t easily do the maths in my head, but (as it stands) would that be five points to mathematical safety?

Get in. You'd hope we see this out. We're not the fragile team we were and their form is poor.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bristol Rovers (a)

skipper We're battering them. How we're not 3 up I don't know.

Don't know if this is good or not. 1-0 is a dangerous lead; if we're dominant we should be finishing the game off.

I guess we're a mid table L1 side without the ruthlessness.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Lincoln City (h)

I suspect we may see VAR in the Championship soon enough; try to minimise ref howlers in "£100m+ games". Question is whether we'll be there, as it'll be too expensive for L1

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

The PL are screwing up the PSR rules with timings. The final round of fixtures kick off at 4pm on 19 May - every club should know the outcome of their season at 6pm. If Luton are half celebrating survival but know it's dependent upon the outcome of Forest's appeal, it will be the most farcical scene...

If people are debating it, it can't have been a clear error. Compare it to Derby where even their fans were admitting we'd been mugged.

Certainly not convinced VAR would have overturned it. Could have been given but not a howler.

Re: Weekend Football

Quite funny that one key reason FFP was introduced was to try and prove that football didn't need a regulator, and all its proven is the opposite. It's farcical that clubs may not know where they stand on the final day. Luton may think they're safe but it's all pending the outcome of appeals by Fore...

Re: Ups & Downs 23/24

Funny how things are cyclical. We stayed up a while at the expense of clubs like Ipswich and Derby who are now in a much better place than us. But this season it looks like 3 strong L1 clubs could go up in Pompey, Derby and Bolton, so if I were a fan of Stoke, QPR, Birmingham, Huddersfield etc., who...
