Re: Have you ever missed some or all of a game...

Missed a home league game v Wigan late 80s / early 90s which was suddenly re-arranged because both clubs were out of the Cup and as I lived way out of town I didn't find out about it til I saw the result in the paper.

Re: Have you ever been attacked at a game?

Never in the stadium but been attacked at Mansfield, Swansea, Newport all away in the 70's, scarf nicked at home match in the 70s, hit in the face on Tilehurst Rd v Bristol Rovers in '85 after a late Reading winner so I'm on quite a decent run of 25 years un-thumped currently. Cardiff at home next w...

Re: 4+ goal winning margins

Apart from the Bristol Rovers debacle the worst I remember was Walsall away in 1977. It was 0-0 at half-time and we went on to lose 6-1 ! I think I left before the end So was the Bris Rov 0-6 at 0-0 at half time. I saw us lose 0-6 at Walsall the year we walked the Third Div - 1986 - even though we ...

Re: Rooney slump

He doesn't fancy a challenge like he used to.

I agree with the first poster who thinks there's something physically wrong.

Plus he's mentally shattered by the maritals and coming out the wrong side PR-wise and prob money-wise on that front.

Re: WSC Article about sharing with rugby team

That's the point. Who knows what will happen during the 20 year life of the agreement? The odds are it won't be JM in charge of RFC at the end of it. It might (and no-one knows) be a consortium of rugby-minded Irish business men: then what? Wycombe fans not happy at the moment - move to a too-big, ...

Barry the bird boggler Aren't cheques due to be phased out by 2018? If so that gives STAR 8 years to find an alternative......

Happier than expected. Expected to be miserable and bored. McD doing a decent job on the resources he has.

Have to say equally.

It would have been 06/07 except for the fact we won the League SO WELL.

Re: What the papers say: Ipswich

There was a report in Reading Chronicle on this game but couldn't find one on Saturday's game v Barnsley. You might expect that omission from The Times but not the Rdg Chron! And the Chron also had Rupert Murdoch trying to take Redaing over in 1983 and merge us with Oxffs. These newspaper mo...

Re: What's your biggest gripe about the club?

This year's car park pass is made of unnecessarily flimsy material and is already badly creased by the end of September!!!!!

Otherwise, I couldn't be happier if I was supporting Barcelona.

Lovely stuff. Hypocrisy that just takes your breath away. This administrator bloke is about as balanced as Chemical Ali or he's having a laugh.

Re: Back from the game - Mill Wall

Good idea in their programme - a 1981 Reading Millwall programme was included as well as a description of all the players at that time. Did it also include a description of the riot they caused. I also seem to remember that, as a result, George Graham (their manager at the time) was going to conced...

Re: Some background about Hoffenheim

Hoffenheim lies just north of the E50 about 20 miles north west of Hellbron and 15 miles south east of Heidelberg. Nearest really big places are Stuttgart (approx 50 miles) to the south and Frankfurt (approx 75 miles) to the north. Nearest town is Sinsheim. Cheers - so as a socio-geographical analo...

Re: REFWATCH: Reading v Crystal Palace

What a load of fantastically dull games he's middled!

Palace at home is often a goal fest - I can recall 4-2, 2-4, 3-2, 2-3, 1-6 and way back there was the record 10-2.

So what's it to be - ref-inspired borefest or tradtion-inspired goal fest?
