Re: Refereeing

Here's as good a place as any to put it as I keep forgetting. Jnr II's team had a really good ref doing their match a couple of weeks ago. Made clear decisions and talked to the players throughout explaining why he had or hadn't given decisions and praised the kids for good play. Little things like...

Re: Refereeing

Old friend of mine was close to getting to be an official in the PL (he was in the 'select group') but didn't make it due to continual knee issues and had to give up. He was a big Man Utd fan but put Wimbledon down as his club as they were close to where he was from and knew it would be believed. S...

Re: Refereeing

I ran the line at a Reading FC match in a pre-season friendly and i also officiated many "reserve and Unders" matches, but i lived to close to ever be regularly appointed. I was never asked to disclose back then what team you support. However, if anything when i did Reading, you just swit...

Re: Refereeing

Wolves game on Tuesday night a linesman gets injured and can't carry on, 4th official takes over but they have no spare 4th official. Matey in the crowd says he will do it as he already does some coaching and refereeing for the local under 12s. Only thing he had to be shown was how to use digital b...

Re: The Non - League thread

Whats going on at Farnham? Is it all going a bit rocky? U23 team gone i understand. Basingstoke Town are pretty much back to full strength so hoping results will improve. Playing on a 4G clearly helping getting games played compared to others but coincided with a terrible run of injuries. Very much ...

Re: Do you agree with todays pitch invasion and match abandonment?

I have had a banner made I hoping to get displayed at our Wolves game next Monday which is on TV. I don't know how to upload an image but it says Brighton Fans want Dia Yongge out Save Reading FC Fans United It's a small gesture but I hope that if they see fans of other clubs care, it may help. tha...

Re: #SellBeforeWeDai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group

Dont know why, but i am just sensing a thawing, that statement in the sale was ever so slightly more definite and positive. I am feeling a chink of light. I don't trust a word the Club or Pang says. Dai is a mute but I wouldn’t trust him either. I'll only be positive when there is evidence of real ...

Re: Do you agree with todays pitch invasion and match abandonment?

I was on the fence, but having seen the reaction over the past couple of days you have to say it worked. So much coverage and more to come on various national podcasts I believe. Will it influence Dai, the EFL or government? I'm not optimistic, but we had to raise the agenda which has been achieved...

Re: Do you agree with todays pitch invasion and match abandonment?

For me its now really a case of do or die. By that i mean, Dai has to come out and make a statement, real commitment that he is selling the club, to confirm it is happening and the process is well underway. If there is silence this week, no statement along them lines, then i do really fear the worse...

Re: “ Sell before we Dai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group v2.3b sponsored by Sports Direct Tennis Ba

Organised protests have been a relative success with the main one being profile and raising awareness. With this latest announcement and looking at comments on Twitter etc I sense it will now get out of control and go very rogue. At that point it could get very embarrassing for the club and its fan ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Brighton & Hove Albion U21 (a)

What a dire game, particularly summed up in the second half and topped off with utter dire penalties. Everything just looked half arsed. Problem was, as the game went on and subs made we got progressively weaker versus there outfield players and academy vs academy you be backing Brighton. Just awful...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

The Cowley Brothers appointed by Colchester - looks like a very decent appointment for a club in their position - wouldn't have been against them coming to us in the summer. I commented awhile back that i spoke at length to Cowley around February 2023 time. He is managing his daughters football tea...

Re: Weekend Football

As a ref, paul, how would you feel about your performance being scrutinised to that extent, and indeed, changed? I'd be all for a procedure like in rugby - and football desperately needs a review system that applies to yellow cards resulting in reds. Diogo Jota's for example, where his first bookin...

Re: Weekend Football

with all the technology available now - yellow cards should be issued after the game once reviewed for clear diving incidents. Not sure on that one but some form of citing system similar to rugby could work i.e. a player is sanctioned for something missed at the time after the event. Could include ...

Re: Weekend Football

Just read that Darwin Nunez has taken 12 penalties in his career and scored them all. Mac Allister 10 of 11. Szoboszlai 16 of 17. Which makes it even weirder that Klopp has persisted with Salah, who has now missed 4 of his last 9, as Liverpool's penalty taker. If they do get a penalty whilst Salah ...

If Birmingham want to restore any credibility they need to be all out for Steve Cooper.
