Re: Long - Time to go.

Arsène Wenger says Theo Walcott could be a "fantastic" striker and may get a chance to take on the central role in the near future. However, the Frenchman is cautious about bringing the 20-year-old back into the side too soon after his recovery from a knee injury sustained in the Gunners'...

Re: Long - Time to go.

More selective stats. You can't compare like for like as there is no like for like. Every player is an individual, with a unique career. The only fair way is to look at their total career goalscoring record rather than being selective and trying to omit parts of it just because it suits you better....

Insulting people is not the way to go about getting people to listen to your point of view. Someone of your age should now better and you are an embarrassment to people of your generation.

It's the job of the old to be embarrassing.

PS at least you don't toss out insults, eh?

Once 99.999999% of people thought the earth was flat. You probably still do.

More made up statistics.

This is a myth, Snowball. Many peoples knew the world was round long before Columbus.

Jeez, lighten up. It was a f-cking JOKE.

Re: Harte is Rubbish, not good enough for the Championship

Doyle and Lita certainly weren't shy to go down under a challenge if it would lead to us getting something, and Long learnt his football under Coppell and certainly isn't the most stable on his feet in the box. Feigning injury, or making the most of it probably isn't something we used to see too mu...

Re: Harte is Rubbish, not good enough for the Championship

It doesn't matter what I think (I can't watch youtube on this laptop). You said he'd never had his integrity questioned . I showed you otherwise. Naughty, naughty, Hoop. That's a big jump from what I actually said. I did NOT say "he has never had his integrity questioned." I asked IF he h...

Re: Long - Time to go.

There has been very little "rational discussion"

I was cornered from the day I made my first post ever on this forum,
when I argued that Shane Long was under-rated and over-maligned.

I was right then. I'm righter now.

Re: Long - Time to go.

I've been looking at players who have got a lot of goals before their 24th birthday As Shane is now just 23 Years 10 Months. It gets interesting to see, for example, how many Kevin Doyle (6.5 Million or Dave Kitson 5.5 Million) had at Shane's age 40 Kitson 19 Doyle (44 if you count his goals at Cork...

Re: Long - Time to go.

I didn't start a nasty thread suggesting a good, serious, hard-working servant to the club should be got rid of. I'm defending a player I consider to be one of our best, one of the first on the team sheet. But this is where your deluded, blinkered mind gets the better of you. Nearly all the people ...

Re: Long - Time to go.

1. Long is a good player and an asset to the team 2. He should not be played as the sole striker, personally I think he should play in the proverbial "hole" behind one or two other strikers Not really thought about it but always presumed the hole role needed the extra close control of a m...

Re: Long - Time to go.

Found an article that suggests Kitson had stopped playing football for THREE YEARS before being picked again up by Cambridge United. Nice story if it's true, but how exactly did that happen? Was he kicking a cabbage around the store and spotted by an astute coach? Or was he playing park football? An...

Re: Long - Time to go.

The point about Kitson is to deal with the myth that it's as if he hadn't played football through his childhood and teens. The fairy story almost tries to infer that he was a shelf-stacker who discovered he could kick a ball. When the reality is much MUCH different. He had been a serious, regular fo...

Re: Harte is Rubbish, not good enough for the Championship

I'm confused. When we could defend, but not score goals having a solid defence was the way to do well in this division. Now it's clear Harte is better attacking yet more suspect defensively, he shouldn't be taken out of the team because of what he offers going forwards. Surely this is contradictory...

Re: Harte is Rubbish, not good enough for the Championship

Snowball Here is the foul by Barthez on Harte. A dive? Really?

Happy to hear people say they got that one wrong

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leyfE7sFj4I

What do you think Hoop?

You think that's a definite (nasty and deliberate kick) or a dive?

1. Kick

2. Dive
