Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Heard a few noises on Twitter too that this is the only bid remaining. Others have been put off. If this falls through, presumably all parties are so exasperated with Dai's behaviour that they take a break and potentially revisit a lower bid after everythings gets worse (which it definitely will).

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

There seems to be plenty of candidates to "do a Reading" at the moment. Sheffield Wednesday most obvious, but QPR in a bad way too. Stoke hovering above the drop zone, Norwich in a malaise and Sheffield United too. They're all clubs with relatively recent PL ambitions who just seem to be ...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Presume this is all just a bit of willy waving on both sides and there is still a reasonable chance of the deal happening.

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

It achieves nothing. We should take a leaf out of Southend's book and protest outside his mansion, or perhaps that exclusive Mayfair club he likes to be seen at.

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Is the outstanding EFL charge against Dai a concern? Conventional wisdom is all they can do is impose a fine which they then cannot enforce. But could they say prove that you have the funding to see out the season or face expulsion? That is what ultimately did for Bury. Then their fans split between...

Re: Selles out

I'm still Selles Out, but yesterday's showing made me question how good this squad really is and whether another manager could do loads better. I think survival would be the ambition for anyone. We have 3 players who would genuinely feature in most L1 teams: Smith, Wing and Abbey. We then Knibbs, A...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Carlisle United (h)

On this specific model, I'd have to go back to this stage in previous seasons to give any specific figures. On using xG, however, the Experimental 361 xG league tables for 46-game seasons (ie. Championship, League One and League Two) has shown an average error of 9.5 points since 2019-20 (2020-21 f...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Eddie Wallbank: I’m hearing that a deal was close to being finalised with Genevra associates, with Dai and Dai’s sister initially giving it the green light. Unfortunately, Dai tried to change a few parts of the deal, which didn’t go down too well at Genevra, stalling progress. #ReadingFC Frustrating...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

I have said it before and I honestly believe this is just a game to Dai now. MS was downbeat about the takeover yesterday and it might also account for the lacklustre performance from the team. I think the protests etc. have hurt Dai’s pride/ego and he’ll let the club fold once he’s done with playi...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Aside the sacking itself, Sheffield Utd going about it in a very Reading FC way. Leaked to the news this morning, then press conference cancelled and radio silence.

Re: I've lost count - Embargos, HMRC Payent defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

Been a pretty shit 6 days or so. On Tuesday night, we won a 2nd consecutive game and were discussing the news of the takeover approaching. Since then we've failed to pay HMRC and our staff, had Bowen say on ITV that the takeovers timeline is uncertain and we've lost to a non league team. Next time t...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

A lost cause for whoever takes over Sheffield United. Don't they currently have ownership uncertainty too? I don't expect them to bounce back.

Re: Selles out

Yeah, so that's £67k, plus gate receipts, plus good chance of £100k prize money and then more gate receipts. The team was just starting to rebuild some confidence after a dreadful period. Well guess what, a poor performance against non-league opposition and a last minute defeat, on TV, after the hi...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Eastleigh (a)

Both talented CBs who have let the malaise of the club drag them down. Had they broken into the team in the Coppell or McDermott days, I'm sure they would have learned the toughness required and been solid Championship players like Pearce was. I don't think it's controversial to say Holmes is a subs...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Eastleigh (a)

2 big calls went against us late on, with the ball bouncing off an arm in the melee for the winner. But we were poor and didn't show enough intent against a team 2 divisions below us. For the winner, your CB needs to deal with the corner and ensure no melee ensues. You make your own luck, so they sa...

Re: Favourites and the unfavoured

It's a sad situation really. We should be a Championship club looking to blood him in and enjoy his performances for 2 - 3 years before getting a 7 figure fee. Instead £1m + a good sell on in January would be great business; we may not even get that. And this a local boy who supports the club too, ...

Re: Selles out

Not sure if this is the thread to post it, but reports that Wilder is returning to Sheffield United. Who knows how close we were, but clearly a sinking ship in the PL is better than a sinking ship in L1.
