Re: Wycombe Wanderers to purchase Bearwood

Wow, utterly shocked to the core!!!! There goes our Cat1 Academy and any chance of attracting decent players for the future......if we have a future that is.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Derby County (a)

Wow, early season Azeez again!! Maybe switch him to the left which is his natural foot i believe and give Elliott a go on the right.

Sutekh Button ill

Craig's disappeared entirely but Elliott gets 90.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wycombe Wanderers (h)

That first 45 mins was as bad as it gets!! the players obviously got a bollocking during the interval and came out looking much sharper and actually looking like they want to win the game!! Now my point is, why does it take a half time screaming at to get the players in that frame of mind to start ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wycombe Wanderers (h)

Our tickets aren't £30. You're looking at £20 average once taking into account kids, students, seniors etc., then presumably you have higher stewarding and policing costs. But probably possible to envisage an extra £80k a game or so if people respond, or £400k over the remaining season. My bad on p...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wycombe Wanderers (h)

I see the guy from the Chronicle has given a rallying cry for Reading fans to back the club to generate much needed income. With season tickets and an average home attendance of around 12,000 i guess, how much could the club expect to gain by filling the stadium till the end of the season IF the fan...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Lot's of Twitter chatter about a consortium fronted by Bergkamp, Koeman and a few others looking for a club in L1/L2. You imagine we'd be a great fit with our location, facilities and academy. A good academy in particular aligns with the Ajax way these guys would be familiar with. Pure speculation ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Shrewsbury Town (h)

Button is a bang average keeper and will have good days and bad days!! hence the word average!! however, in our current financial situation what else do we really expect? We could throw Pereira into the mix, would he be any better, probably not otherwise he wouldn't have spent his whole career as an...

Re: Who do you consider to be a rival?

My first Reading game was back in 1979 and for the most part it was always Aldershot, Swindon and Oxford!! Both Brizzle teams always came in big numbers and looked to cause trouble but i wouldn't call them rivals. From my memories Oxford always seemed to bring the most away fans and the atmosphere w...

Championship wage bills for 2023/24. the relegated teams are literally in a different league of their own. https://www.planetfootball.com/quick-reads/championship-wage-bills-2023-24-leeds-leicester-southampton Its a whole new ball game these days when you throw in FFP the rest of the league have to...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Port Vale (h)

To be honest, i would stick with Bindon and Mbengue as it seems to be working ok and as mentioned it may well be our starting pair at CB next season so it seems only fair to give them more time to gel as a partnership. Saying ,that, i would also like to see if Dorsett can stake a claim to partner a...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Port Vale (h)

If Mbengue and Bindon continue to do well, it makes no sense to bring Holmes back in. Better to let them keep playing together so they can be 1st choice next year. I doubt we need to worry much about Holmes displacing him for many games. To be honest, i would stick with Bindon and Mbengue as it see...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Port Vale (h)

His decision making may have been hindered by playing multiple positions and having to make different decisions each time i.e. the same scenario would need a different decision from a RB than a CB. You would hope that the more games he plays at CB, the quality of his decision making will improve as...

The table is starting to look much better now!! If we can look after our home games then we're pretty much safe and mid-table....plus after the Derby game i think we're done for midweek games other than the holiday games. Smith must be due a goal sometime soon which should be the start of one of hi...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Nice to see Jamari Clarke back amongst the goals, always thought he may be good enough to become a decent striker. I guess injuries have curtailed his progress the past few seasons.
Always thought Clarke had a bit more to him than both Ehib and Wareham? Any of you U23 regulars have any feedback?

Re: MATCHWATCH : Portsmouth (a)

Nothing to worry about right now. we just played the Champions Elect off the park playing superb fast flowing attacking football for the first 40mins!! We really should and could have been 3-0 up. But that's football and that's why we're down at the bottom and they're up the top. We missed our chanc...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Fleetwood Town (a)

It was a sad end to the game, but an away point is more than fine. It keeps us ticking over and the run going. Our home form should be key to survival this season however, taking the odd draw away from home will help us inch our way to the 50+ points total needed for safety. Portsmouth is a free hit...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Portsmouth (a)

I am really looking forward to this one. Going to Fratton Park has always been one of my favourite away days. I reckon we could sneak a win, as I don’t think we should fear anyone in this league. Probably famous last words but here’s hoping. I don’t mind one song Pompey and the first game I saw us ...
