Re: FA Youth Cup - 2-1 win

If the way they are listed on the match report is in order of position, I'd say Keown or Partridge *edit* That said, it looked like he started at right back (so Keown). But he certainly wasn't playing there at the end... so the other options are Tanner or Webb Would be excellent if it was Webb, bec...

Re: Back from the game - West Ham

You do realise, Snowball, that none of the players you mention are English... Imagine if it was a West Ham player who did that to (say) Pearce, and he then clattered him. What would be the reaction of Reading fans? Isn't Pearce a Scot? No, English with a Scottish father. The bastrad!!...

Re: Mills/Zurab or Pearce/Gorkss?

Ian Royal Can anyone think of a more talented but catastrophically unreliable centreback partnership than Mills & Bikey?

ugghhhhh *shudder*

Edit: With Sonko (post injury) for cover.

David Luiz and Andre Bikey?

Re: Back from the game - West Ham

That's probably our best match since the playoffs. Kebe is brilliant. Ratings: Feds 7- sorry, but I can't give a goalkeeper more than this if he doesn't do anything. Cummings 8- good performance, overlapped well, kept Collison relatively quiet (pre-red). Gorkss 9- barely troubled by any of West Ham'...

Re: Mills/Zurab or Pearce/Gorkss?

rfc2001 Zuub and Gorkss would be immense

Yes I know that's completely irrelevant

It's completely irrelevant because Gorkss and Bikey would be loads better.

Re: Two Ian Harte assists today....

Well done to him, but these point scoring attempts are rather premature. One game on his return due to injury does not re-write history to prevent him having been very poor at the start of the season (defensively and with set pieces). Nor does it mean he will solve all our problems or continue to p...

Re: Blooding Youngsters - When is the right time?

Jem Karacan had a run in the Reading first team (next to either Harper or Cisse) when he was 18. Alex Pearce was about the same age. Gylfi Sigurdsson's 20-goal season was when he was 19/20. Jake Taylor will be 20 in a few weeks. He is old enough- the only question is "is he strong enough?"...

Re: Centre midfield

The thing that I've liked about McD as a manager is that when we have had a problem he has solved it by changing the way we play or bringing new players. So I can't see why it'd be any different this time. Interesting point of view. He's done pretty well doing that defensively, but going forward I ...

Re: Centre midfield

LOL but we're not Chelsea or Arsenal.......until you tell our centre halfs to stop lumping it in to the channels then we need someone who will run it, in that formation - the fact is when Doyle and Long played it, they did it well - Alfie is a box player. Have you seen Le Fondre play? He's constant...

Re: Centre midfield

tbf, i dont see why, since we only have the one decent striker, 2 Defensive midfielders, and either howard/taylor to play behind the striker why we cant go 451/433 I agree with this, no problem with a midfield pairing of Legs and Karacan as long as creativity comes from other areas. Have Taylor pla...

Whore Jackie Yep, not knocking Mills, he coped pretty well. But he was a constant threat throughout and was the one player you'd willingly swap any of our players for.

Even Federici?!?

Re: Back From the Game Birmingham

Feds 7.5- made some good saves Cummings 7- seemed to be caught out of position once or twice, but he pulled out a few moments of magic, particularly twisting Elliot in knots at one point. Pearce 8- excellent in the first half, a bit shakier in the second half Gorkss 7- the opposite to Pearce really....

Re: An admission/apology re BR

Rodgers has admitted that he learned from the mistakes he made here. At the end of his reign he was like a broken man in interviews, saying that the £4-5m he'd spent wasn't enough, blaming his players for his mistakes, and so forth. He didn't manage Long correctly, he annoyed Matt Mills (his big mon...

Re: McDermott linked with Leicester job

Well considering we'd finished 4th the season before with Pardew and were flying high before he left and we were challenging at the top under McGhee and went on to finish second, that would be a particularly cretinous opinion to have. Especially seeing as under JM's stewardship we've got promoted o...

Wizard Do we have room in the squad for 2 players with the same unusual surname?

We'd better ask Joe and Jack Mills.

Why is everyone beating off about fox? I don't get it. He wasn't good enough to make the grade at Celtic not so long ago and everyone on here calls that league " shite". He's played around the championship a fair bit and although he had a good game against us the other night...has looked ...

Royals-lad14 hal robson kanu??

Normally McAnuff plays on the left. He's not left footed.

Robson-Kanu has played left wing for the last four or five matches.

Re: Brian Falls Under A Bus

My first choice would be Dolan.

Between those two, I'd take Poyet if he was prepared to mix it up a bit if what he was trying wasn't remotely working. In other words, if he wasn't Rodgers. Otherwise, I'd like Allardyce.

Re: Protest against EPPP

EPPP is none of those things. What's more is that despite us being told that it is to 'benefit' the national game, there has not been one legitimate point or argument made which displays why our current youth system is failing our national team. Um, yes there has. Currently players don't receive en...
