Purely for geographical reasons, Crawley away, please.

Re: Confimred new owners of Reading Football Club

So was I. Every time I see a post from Dave Royal, I think of SDR for some reason.

Re: 2014/15 fixtures

Brentford away for sure. got to be a London Royals meat-up for the four corner-pubs. Only been to Brentford as a kid (2-2 in around 1977 was the last time. Scored directly from a corner). My first visit to Griffin Park. Bruce Stuckey scored the late equaliser direct from a corner, as you say. Gordo...

Re: Earliest WC memory

1974. I was 8 and so ignorant of football on TV (parents have a LOT to answer for…I am scarred) that I missed the final and was, instead, at the Garlands School (Burghfield Common) Summer Fete. I remain disappointed to this day. Remember a lot about 78. The Ally's Army build up. Scotland v Holland ...

Re: Earliest WC memory

66 for me... I got to stay up late to watch the games. Me too. The first full game I ever watched (on TV) was the England v Uruguay opener. A few weeks earlier I had started to watch the FA Cup final between Everton and Sheff Wed, but went out to play in the garden after 20 minutes. By the end of J...

Re: 2014/15 fixtures

Announced next week. Predictions? My m8 at the FA reliably informs me that we'll be at home to Rotherham on the opening day. I'll be in Amsterdam, so if he's wrong and we're away at Brentford, I'll be livid. Sadly, we are not in the Premier League, so it has FA to do with the FA. He works for the F...

No, but I did go to school with at least two in there (including Kirbs).

Re: Reading FC related dreams

For years I've had a recurring dream in which I am late for an evening game at Elm Park. When I arrive, the game has already kicked off and I have to watch from the roof of the North stand.

Re: Buyout

multisync1830 3 (probably 2 unless there really is another Ian but I somehow doubt it) new Directors were added to RFC Holdings so they have updated recently.

Why would they have filed a Form AP01 at Companies House if he wasn't a different person from Ian Wood-Smith?

Re: Buyout

As I stated last week, Reading Football Club (Holdings ) Limited has 5 directors: the two mentioned by CholsleyRoyal above, plus Ian Smith, Camilla Morris and Helen Morris, each of whom was appointed on 19 May 2014. The rest of what Cholsey states is, according to the report I have, correct (or was...

Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but I've just spotted the following for The Reading Football Club (Holdings) Limited. Three new board members appointed yesterday - Ms CA Morris, Miss HJ Morris and Mr I Smith. Credit rating improved to "creditworthy" from "caution - credi...

Re: It's a generational thing

Like my Grandad and my Dad, I grew up in Reading and supporting them came naturally. I left the Royal County in the early '80s but made sure that family visits coincided with home games (and rarely went home in the summer!). Of my 4 youngsters, the eldest (daughter) has no interest in football, seco...

Indeed. It's in such poor taste, it makes you wonder if the Chronicle's editor has lost his reason. Or has a score to settle.

Re: Hooliganism at Reading

"Exploding flares?"

I had a mate whose flares were set on fire by a discarded cigarette butt landing in his turn-ups, but they didn't explode, it was more of a smouldering effect. This was in 1973, mind.

Re: Brighton Away: BFTG

The problem with the Amex is very much the problem with the Madejski - its too far from the train station and TC - by the time youve got there the enthusiasm has started to wane. You cannot be serious! An 8 minute journey by train from Brighton takes you to within a 2 minute walk from the stadium. ...

McAnuff

McAnuff ?

Did you see his efforts on goal on Saturday ?

At least he managed a shot on target - more than anyone else did (even if it was a miss-cue straight at the keeper).
