Re: You're Reading manager for the Jan transfer window

IMO the real problem is we don't have a dominant midfield. Karacan is in yer face, energetic, brave, but rarely constructs a move (though he has occasionally made brilliant passes and may be THE man by the end of next season)... Howard, IMO is a spent force, fails too often with his passing and give...

Snowball Long and Kebe among 2010's best

Jimmy was joint eighth and would surely have been higher but for a six-week injury lay-off from mid-October onwards.

Thanks to Sky Sports' Football League Weekend for the stats.

Long missed 4-5 games through suspension, 1 through injury, was sub about 3+2 times

Re: Long - time for a change?

Long and Kebe among 2010's best Royals duo Shane Long and Jimmy Kebe are both among the top ten goalscorers in the Championship for the calendar year 2010. Long scored a total of 14 League goals, with Kebe one behind on 13. 23-year-old Long was therefore the joint fifth highest scorer for the year,...

Nope, I would keep Antonio. He has a major role to play in the future at this club.

This, yes. He is probably the next Kebe, without the warm up year

Svlad Cjelli Does anyone have any stats on how many times Snowball has turned abusive when someone has challenged his use of stats?

Re: You're Reading manager for the Jan transfer window

Know nothing about Bignall out on loan but thought he looked VG
when he scored two in the League Cup. Looks the sort of player
who needs a big/tall partner and they work as "Smash and Grab"

Would not surprise me to see him do well in a couple of years

Re: Abertawe prediction thread

If we manage to not get beaten, our run will be starting to look awesome WWLDDDDDWWD+, one defeat in 11/12 games (against QPR), 9 without defeat I've predicted a draw already, but in truth I think it could be anything. If we play like we did at Hull we'll be tonked badly. At our best we can get a go...

Big Foot Harte got the assist to the assist for our goal at Watford.

My apologies Big Foot.

I read that three times and still only saw "assist" once

Really? He passed to Long who crossed for Hunt, yes? So it's Long's assist?

Re: You're Reading manager for the Jan transfer window

I really can't remember Howard doing anything worthwhile when he came on at Hull. Antonio, though, made a big difference and he will frighten defences. I believe it will hurt us to lose Fedders but we need to look to the future. Sign him on a new contract with an escape clause, or allow him to go fo...

Re: Goal Difference!

where are your stats to back up the statement that 91% of the time, the team with the 3rd best goal difference will finish third? I didn't say that. A correlation of .91 more-or-less means you can say X maps to Y with an accuracy of 91% IT IS NOT A PREDICTION FOR SINGLE TEAMS or single instances. T...

Re: Goal Difference!

thing is SB you say we will, if you say historically we SHOULD finish 3rd or 4th then you would not get pulled up all the time. Same as 92 points should get top two, but it is not guaranteed. If we finish the season with the 3rd best GD we'll finish 3rd or 4th, probably 3rd Ah, I see. My bad. My st...

Re: Long - time for a change?

As an observation, if he's going to keep scoringing from penalties he needs some variety. Everyone at Hull yesterday called exactly where he was going to put the ball yesterday, and everyone - including the Hull keeper - was correct. Makes no sense to me why he takes them anyway. The change relatin...
