Re: STH Options

Apparently the first month of next season (at least) is going to be behind closed doors https://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/sport/18589653.boris-johnson-makes-announcement-fans-can-return-stadiums/ That would put clubs in a difficult situation as to when to put next seasons STs on sale. Tricky for f...

Re: Rival Watch

Good question, Sutekh. Would they really want their grand opening to be behind closed doors, even if it was ready? When are the bulldozers due to move in to Griffin Park? They'll need to have some test events before they can host a proper match, even if it's limited capacity. Both Forest's and Brent...

Re: ifollow

RFC official site shrugs its shoulders and advises people to contact iFollow, which I have done. Not even had an automated reply, I'm thinking their email server may have crashed as well!

Liam Kelly, maybe, but imagine Stam's surprise when the wrong one turns up to sign the contract.

Re: Elm Park Years

Anyone remember Swindon away in the FA Cup in 1974? Terrible day, we lost 4-0. Lots of Reading fans near the hallway line at the start, anyone who started a song or chant was pointed out by plain clothes police at the front and got taken away by uniform. Eventually we ended up behind the goal where ...

Re: Elm Park Years

It was Northampton. White coats, maroon "The Cobblers" splattered all over them. Without bothering to look it up, I believe Geoff Barker scored the only (winning) goal for us. Twas the season we went up, along with Lincoln and Northampton. The Lincoln game later that season drew over 15,0...

Re: BFTG - Baggies

2021 being the club's 150th anniversary would be a good time to bring back caps as part of the kit.

Shirt numbers you can actually see from a distance of more that 40 yards might be an idea...

Re: Elm Park Years

can recall Northampton (1976) walking through the Tilehurst End with their doctor white coats on, heading towards the Southbank My recollection is that it was Bournemouth (although could have been both, I suppose). It happened a few days after a TV programme on Millwall supporters. Whoever it was, ...

Re: BFTG Bristol citeh.

We really missed Adam last night. Since December, he has been outstanding. It was cold last night (and I had to scrape ice off the windscreen before heading home), but nowhere near as cold as it was at a midweek Newport Co v Reading game that I went to at Somerton Park in the early 80s. This was in ...

Re: Brentford A Saturday November 23rd

Probably the only remaining ground where I have sat or stood on all four sides. My first visit there saw Gordon Cumming get sent off and Bruce Stuckey equalised direct from a corner. Easy journey on the train from Three Bridges, so I will be there.

Err, I think most people were underwhelmed but were happy to give him a chance before slagging him off. It was only the usual vocal minority or the Twitter mong collective who crawled out if the woodwork, calling him a snake and coming up with conspiracy theories about how he got the job who were c...

Re: 21 not out

My son was one of the seven-year-olds that was given a shirt by Steve Sidwell that evening. He will be 21 later this week, is now a qualified football coach, working in schools in Sussex and running an under 9s team. It's fair to say he's a bit more talkative than he was when SS gave him the shirt, ...

While I do have a lot of time for WBA (nearest ground to my house, PhD students have been fans, Cyrille Regis etc), I can't help but laugh at this slice of history; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqOp0oxkRks Final game of 1990-91 season, branded a toga party a few months earlier by fans who were c...

I was there as well. Very cold. Don't recall very much, but I do remember the hospital. I was on one of the coaches - was that the game where one broke down and had to wait on the hard shoulder for a replacement?

Got into a queue at the burger van (as well as beef burgers, they were offering ostrich, kangaroo and (IIRC) a Bangkok Bad Boy (which, disappointingly, was a spicy bean burger!). This was roughly halfway between gates 5 and 6. Took 5 minutes to reach the front of the queue and pay, then another 35 ...

Will they do the matching caps as well as the knickerbocker shorts? 50% wool as well no doubt. I'd love that first kit to be used again - we could sing, "We've got more hoops than you" when we play QPR. Thanks for the replies. For the 150, I want not just the kit, but the team photo to be...
