Re: New Stadium

Why? Where are you coming from? It’s pretty easy, tbf. Tilehurst. The buses from the ground in my experience are a nightmare. Either leave early, stand in a massive queue or miss them. Rammed. Take ages. If the stadium was in town I'd jump on the 17. Could always jump on 17 and then get the footbal...

Re: 150 Lager beer

I’m hearing that WBB is on the verge of insolvency. Trying to find a rescue buyer apparently Wow, i'm kind of surprised and not at the same time. They missed the boat with the craft beer revolution in the last few years (especially during lockdowns) - the few modern style beers they've tried recent...

Re: New Stadium

I do think that Reading misses out on a large section of potential fans who would go along to a game as part of a day's drinking if the ground was in a more convenient location for it. Guys that meet their mates in a town centre Saturday lunchtime and would be tempted to go to the match if it involv...

Re: Pauno out

Am I the only one who doesn't care if we're relegated? Footy is footy. League 1, Champ, all brilliant fun. Every game is the same. We watch it, we enjoy the highs, moan at the lows, come and have our say and people like me get to spout shit once in a while. Doesn't matter what league we're in it's ...

Re: White knight

I don't understand how a new owner will help? The current ones literally spent more than they were allowed to, they have been pretty decent to fans throughout and have respected the club's heritage. I mean - I would prefer it if all clubs were owned by fans and we end this whole 'millionaire/billion...

Re: Pauno out

I don't know why people think we would do badly in league one. The financial problems the club have are only with FFP. Yes, getting relegated would mean that our highest paid would go, but they now represent a minority of our squad. We appear to have enough decent youth team players that we'd still ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Millwall (a)

That game could have gone either way but we didn't catch a single break. Hard to blame anyone in particular when the squad is so thread-bare and a manager who can't talk to players face to face. Maybe as commentators suggested, we should have gambled with subs earlier rather than leave on players wh...

Re: Worst ever Reading FC miss

Shane Long's miss in the closing minutes of the away match at Birmingham in December 2007. Just in front of goal, and with plenty of time, and space, he tried a spectacular scisor kick when a volley, a diving header or even a well-placed knee would have had more chance of going in. It might not be ...

Re: Next Manager

Does it ever occur to people that it's pointless calling on the manager to go given our owners' track record of hiring managers? I mean - we sack Pauno then they'll just find another rando with no experience of English or high-level football.

Re: Pauno out

I honestly don't know if Pauno is a decent manager or whether we've just somehow struck it lucky with all our signings. I mean - he clearly has some ability to get us winning given the circumstances at the moment. It's irrelevant to me though as I strongly believe in manager continuity - regardless ...

Re: Points Deduction Incoming!

It's an odd argument as there is virtually no team in the Championship that was running at a profit even before covid. Technically any of them could have entered administration at any point if their owners had decided to do so (Reading could be put in administration tomorrow if the owners wanted). D...

Re: Attendances

I've only seen one game live and a couple on the stream this year but they've all been cracking matches. I don't like seeing us lose - but i'd almost prefer watching a 3-3 draw than a boring 1-0 win.

Re: Points Deduction Incoming!

I'd expect that whatever is agreed, retaining Swift, or even giving him a new contract so that we can extract a fee, is out of reach given his current wage package and the level he's currently playing at. But you look at somebody like Halilovic, who has an abundance of talent but who's career has s...

Re: Would you pay more?

No. Clearly the clubs pricing over the last decade has been excellent and we couldn't grumble if they did increase things a bit. But we shouldn't do anything to encourage higher ticket prices overall. If we put up prices that puts pressure on everyone else to do the same. Instead, we should be encou...

Re: Points Deduction Incoming!

I also think capital injection should be allowed but it has to be done in a way to ensure protection of a club, so say you buy a player on a 4 year contract that with transfer fee is worth a total of £10m, the owner if they want that figure excluded from FFP calculations has to put £10m into the cl...
