Re: We're ManchesteROFL United, we do what we want

Sporting Directors have transfer fees now. Newcastle's Dan Ashworth - he joined from Brighton in 2022 - wants to join United, but he has a contract at St. James Park until 2026. Newcastle's owners want £20m from United to release him from that.

Re: Record Watch 23/24

just reading an article on BBC Sport, I didn't realize Derby's 11 points in our first season in the prem was a record still held to this day... across all of the top 5 European leagues :!:  I thought it was just a prem record. So they really are the ' worst team in history ' as we like to chan...

Re: Record Watch 23/24

Three wins on the bounce for Leicester, and the record is very much back on. They need 32 points from 15 games - still a big ask, but they are very capable of (say) 10 wins and 2 draws to the end of the season. Should win their next two at home to Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday, and then it i...

Re: Weekend Football

Does feel like City are starting to do City things again. Five wins in a row - and their next three league games are at home. That said, Liverpool have got a lot of their tougher fixtures out of the way. Looking at their next eight - they host Burnley, Luton, Brighton and Sheffield United, and have...

Re: VAR

ESPN "study" shows that this season in the PL that VAR officials have made 20 (TWENTY) erroneous decisions which, to be honest, is utterly inexcusable. Same study apparently shows that Liverpool have been on the receiving end of 4 of those decisions with Brighton and Wolves next on 3 apie...

Bologna's highest finish since the 1960s is 7th, and they've done that six times. Last won Serie A in 1964.

Nothing to do with VAR but dont think we've got a generic "rules" thread - blue cards to be trialed, possibly in next year's FA Cup. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/02/08/blue-cards-to-be-introduced-for-football-sin-bins/ ludicrous All for it - seems a sensible way forward to tr...

Thiago, who returned to the Liverpool side after nine months out, against Arsenal, played ten minutes as a sub and got injured again. He has a 'muscle problem' that will keep him out for weeks. Guy is made of actual jelly. No way he stays at the club following his contract expiry. Must be the bigge...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

Almeria have now gone 26 La Liga games without a victory, and will equal Levante's record of 27 if they fail to beat Athletic Bilbao at home this weekend. And with just six points so far, they need another eight points from their remaining 15 games to beat the league's record low tally of 13 (Sporti...

Re: CheLOLsea

Got to wonder if they'll end up in a situation similar to Everton. They don't have much FFP wiggle room to rebuild the squad; they bet big on signings made so far. Due to accounting rules and amortisation, their 8 year contracts make selling a player like Mudryk or Fernandez of no use, as any trans...

Re: Weekend Football

quite depressing how the top 3 of the Champ were the 3 to come down last season. Gotta love those parachute payments. Have covered this before, but there has been quite the turnaround of promoted sides in the last decade or so, even if recent trends, or the odd yo-yo team, suggest otherwise. 22/23 ...

Silver Fox Owen Beck is Ian Rush's great nephew too

All of a sudden I feel every single one of my 52 years, unless Owen is a star performer in their U7s team.

Similar at 42, noticing an advert for a documentary about the football career of Michael Owen's son.
