Re: Ex Players

Marc McNulty's career flying high in the Scottish second division. Had never even heard of The Spartans FC https://www.spartansfc.com/2024/02/21/signing-news-marc-mcnulty-signs-for-spartans/ They're a lovely little club in Pilton/Granton in Edinburgh - really community focussed and run lots of team...

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

Thing is, hardly any professional football teams can survive without their owner so unsustainable is the pyramid. That's the prevailing view, but there are a few clubs starting to challenge it through community ownership. What if the club is community owned and the members of the community put in a...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

Morton were bottom of the Scottish Championship a couple of months ago and looking terrible - but are on a charge and yesterday set an all-time club record of 16 matches unbeaten. Now safely in 4th place and closing the gap on the clubs above them. Also through to the Scottish Cup QFs. 12 of those ...

Plus one more, but I'll be in the home area. Not going to miss a chance to watch from the last proper standing paddock at an English League ground.

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

Is there a cut-off point for points deductions? The season ends on the 27th of April. Could there be a situation where we stay up by a point, then get deducted points because we missed a payment at the end of April, or May even? I think (but not 100% certain) it's the same as the old transfer deadl...

Re: Record Watch 23/24

Their owners own Bet365, who sponsor their stadium/shirts. It could well be a Man City-style situation going on. Yep. And as a gambling company makes massive profits, it's very useful to have a subsidiary in the group that makes substantial losses, as those losses reduce the tax bill of the gamblin...

Re: Record Watch 23/24

Stoke City are 5th in the wage table and are now in the bottom three!! They must be facing some financial issues if they go down   I don't want to see any team go through the shit we have but oxf*rd me, it feels like Stoke have been taking the piss for ages, didn't they sell their sta...

Brighton are the paragons of this. As well as supporting us now, over the years they've taken coachloads of supporters to "Fans United" days to support the like of York, Cambridge, Macclesfield and probably a couple of others I can't remember. Haven't seen any coachloads of Brighton fans ...

Re: Ex Players

Only just realised when I saw the Scottish Premier highlight programme last night that Jordon Obita has ended up at Hibs!

A regular starter but doesn't seem to be setting the world on fire there.

Re: #SellBeforeWeDai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group

With previous accusations at DBWD that they have only taken an interest in other clubs financial predicaments because of the situation we are in, what is the future plan for SBWD when our mess is resolved and our future is looking more rosy? There are, and will be, many more clubs in financial trou...

Maidenhead pull out of the BBSC *yet again*.

They shouldn't enter it if they're not going to bother with it.

Re: Club 1871 - the What, When, Where, How, Who & Why Thread

I dunno I doubt the atmosphere at any club has ever been tangibly increased by a bout of note taking. It's not so much that you can't teach this stuff, it's that you shouldn't have to. It's more the point about focus on supporting the team - don't focus on away fans [in my example above, there were...

Re: Club 1871 - the What, When, Where, How, Who & Why Thread

I was at the Rangers-Ross County game last Wednesday. The Rangers equivalent behind the goal were highly impressive: singing for the whole ninety minutes; almost no repetition of songs; were loud throughout the game and the events on the pitch had no impact on their support. Would be good if Club 1...

Re: Carlisle (A)

I've been told that Carlisle were planning on moving the pitch north back in the 90s, when that stand was built, but ran out of money or will to redevelop the entire stadium, leading to the misalignment with the pitch. I think the reasoning was to move the south stand (behind the goal) away from th...

Re: Carlisle (A)

Brunton Park is a lovely old ground, maybe the best traditional ground left in England - I go there a fair bit. In terms of pubs, there's a pub right next to the station where home fans go, and I have seen away fans in there - it all seems pretty good-natured, the Carlisle fans are a decent bunch. F...
