Re: Managerial changes

With Walsall’s sacking of Jimmy Mullen, here's this season’s current total:

2008-09 27
2007-08 46
2006-07 48
2005-06 49

Surprisingly consistent over the last few years.

Re: Well done Leroy

It's going to be interesting how Coppell 'plays' his subs next week at Swansea. The scoreline and state of the match on Friday rather fudged the issue, with Reading's double substitution. Wonder whether it will be Long or Lita who gets the first nod, presuming he names them both. That should give us...

Mr Angry The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano has a base price of £176,186 OTR; the FI version is 181,080 OTR; either are less than 2 weeks wages for the guy.

and with all the options. I'm sure his would have cost approx. £200,000......

A car with £19,000 worth of options? That's VW Golf territory surely.

A top 20 Championship players list, doesn’t feel right without Sidwell and Jagielka topping the tree.

Re: Respectful interview about RFC from Watford Manager

Worked at Reading for some years and is very respected inside the game. Glowing Jose M reference landed him the Watford job. Could well be a future Reading manager if he does well in the next couple of years. Spot on. His coaching reputation is second-to-none in the game. Makes Scolari's training s...

Re: Games you remember because they were so good.

One I haven't seen mentioned that I thoroughly enjoyed was the 3-3 draw with Blackburn in May 2007. Everytime they scored, we equalised. They go up 1-0, we make it 1-1. They go up 2-1, we make it 2-2. They go up 3-2 and Gunnarson equalises: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzVLdFlCvsY Then we nearly ...

Re: Jewell resigns

Obviously his record at Derby was second-to-none, but I always associate Brian Clough with Forest. Interesting that Forest (on the face of it) didn’t approach Nigel for their managerial vacancy. It’s going to be interesting to see who fares better. Both clubs near the bottom of the pile, with decent...

bobbybottler The Walsall triptych of tedium in January 03.

Hell's teeth.

Not forgetting the Stoke, Palace and Wimbledon hat-trick of 0-3 defeats in December of said year.

Re: Jewell resigns

Derby Chairman Adam Pearson He's got a presence about him and he commands respect. He's firm but fair and I think he'll bring a considered approach to managing this set of players. I do believe Nigel is very much his own man but he does want to create his own dynasty at the club, he's already spoken of a 10-year plan.

Archie's penalty
Whore Jackie It took him an awfully long time to get Burton Albion to their current position.

But he has built consistently. How many promotions has he led them to?:

One. Though they were looking odds-on for automatic promotion this year. Good luck to him, doubt he'll get 10 years to do it.

Best avoided. Had the misfortune of spending some time in a corporate at the Mad Stad a couple of times and listened to the "amusing" ideas for who should be the nominated MOTM. Probably why MOTM isn't chosen by anyone in Corporate anymore. Instead it's down to a panel of experts almost c...

Re: Parky Appointed Manager at Charlton Athletic

Frightening isn't it. Much prefer Hoddle to Parky as our next manager. Hoddle's a bit unfairly maligned; he's got a cracking coaching reputation and was pretty tactically spot-on with England. Other than a few issues with his man-management and his record at Wolves, I can't think of many more suita...

Re: Parky Appointed Manager at Charlton Athletic

Deadlock Why on earth do so many people seem to want this? Parky was a super player for us, but he hasn't exactly shone as a manager.

Indeed. Let's hope for Parky that Charlton can afford to bring in Geraint Williams as his assistant.

Deathy I don't want it. I can see it though.

My money's on Hoddle.

Re: Adam Federici: Is He Good Enough?

It's going to be an interesting conundrum for Coppell over the next few weeks. On the one hand there's the solid yet passive, reliable shot-stopping Hahnemann. On the other, the wonderful attacking distribution, yet somewhat suspect positioning with Federici. Personally, I'd go for Fed, his accuracy...
