Re: An analysis of Reading's current situation

Top Flight It's not really a good thing that there will be such a large Dutch presence at the club. Holland, with a talented side didn't even qualify for the Euros. Some footballing experts they are.

Scotland aren't there either, should we think of a ban on Scottish players ?

Re: An analysis of Reading's current situation

I believe several Asian countries would have trading links with the Dutch East India Company, and also with British, Portugese and French equivalents. I think the Dutch link would be stronger with Indonesia though.

RIP Johnny Brooks

Sad to see a true legend has just died.
RIP Johnny, a great player, a lovely man and one of the RFC all time greats.
I was lucky enough to twice play in games with Johnny and even though they were light hearted affairs and he was perhaps 40 years past his prime he still had a trick or two

Re: Season Ticket Prices for 2016/2017

No, because season tickets have been on sale since the end of the season. You can't buy ST for seats reserved for renewers but you can buy a seat that wasn't a ST last season. So up until Friday there was a combined number of renewed ST and new ST that was higher than the combined number on renewal ...

Re: Strangely optimistic about next season.

It's true, there are fine margins in the Championship. An improvement could see us fly up the league and challenge for the play offs. On the other hand, if we take another step backwards we will fall out of the division and be heading for League One. At the moment, it looks to me like we are probab...

Re: Strangely optimistic about next season.

to be honest Ian it's not about what you can see ! Plenty of teams go from being a bit below par to a bit above it thanks to a manager coming in and sorting a few issues out. If we make a handful of decent signings then we'll be fine. The point was also not about making the playoffs. As I said we we...

Re: Strangely optimistic about next season.

A superficial analysis says we finished just 6 points off 14th. And to be honest we threw away many more than 6 points last season. A very slight improvement, a bit more luck, a couple of refereeing decisions and we COULD have finished in the top half. But of course it's never that easy. However my ...

Re: New manager odds

Even if the Thai owners are genuine and really do want to make RFC a success. They don't have the knowledge, experience or competence to successfully manage the football club. They are out of their depth and are making mistakes. Would be interesting to do a comparison between the knowledge, experie...

Re: An analysis of Reading's current situation

One more point that I forgot to put in my original post regarding the timing of BM's sacking. I did wonder if the they waited for three weeks because they reacted to the season ticket sales not going well, or if it was purely down to the owners all having to get together to decide (I may be wrong, ...

Re: Football is Sh1t

The most depressing thing about this is England's (or Hodgson's) "Rooney must play at all costs" - for the first time in ages we have a young and hungry strikeforce that could really have a go! Instead he's risking it all to accommodate Rooney where really he should be on the bench. For J...

sandman A guy who sold Man City to Sheik Mansour and a Dutch under 14's coach do not have the knowledge required.

Agreed

Although it ranks with saying Kingsley and Ken from Security didn't have the knowledge required when SJM ran the club

Re: Owners/board signing players - has it EVER worked?

No smoke without fire. It works at a higher level as the two big Spanish clubs would testify. At Reading's level with owners who have neither the money or the footballing knowledge to get the right players in then it is far less likely to work. The owners aren't making any signings. The people iden...

Nameless Russell Slade exits Cardiff, and looks to be heading to Charlton. Dodged a bullet there then....

When Charlton is a more enticing job opportunity than Reading.

When not having a manager is a better option than employing Russell Slade !

Jimmy Quinn was tall and had a receding hairline.
Alan Pardew was married to a Dutch person. Or a Swede, or something.
So all things are possible.
