Re: Euro 2016: How much did your team earn?

Any idea who got the money for HRK as he wasn't a Reading player at the Euros.... Reading did. He was a Reading player until his contract ran out on 30 June. Wales played twice after that though.... Just interested in how they allocate the money. Weren't there a couple if Irish players who had no c...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Birmingham City (a) sponsored by Trevor Francis tracksuits

Yes, which is why you'd usually say "probably safe" or "normally safe" if that's what you mean. Guaranteed safety would probably be about 70 points or more, as in theory every team could win 23 games and get 69 points* * one would obviously have to drop points to allow you to ge...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Birmingham City (a) sponsored by Trevor Francis tracksuits

tmesis Either way "if you get x points you will be safe" and "if you get x points you will probably be safe" are two very different statements.

True. But surely the actual guaranteed safety number is quite high?

Re: MATCHWATCH : Birmingham City (a) sponsored by Trevor Francis tracksuits

EXACTAMUNDO MY FRIEND! I think only twice in those listed seasons was a team relegated on GD. Using the completely unscientific rule of looking at what a team was relegated with an adding a point to ensure survival. The magic number to stay up is, on average, 47pts. Get to 50 and you have a 25% cha...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Birmingham City (a) sponsored by Trevor Francis tracksuits

:| No. It's the same as picking the highest points to finish 6th and saying you need that to guarantee a play off place. If you take the average, you fail to be safe a significant amount of the time. Your figure of 49 points to be safe would have seen a team relegated in 7 of the seasons you listed...

Re: Back from the January Transfer Window Sponsored by Yermas Dildo

Not wanting to stoke that argument up again, but Thought it was Ozil he marked not Giroud I thought the back 5 vs Cardiff dealt very comfortably with their big lumps. Sure if we were playing a particularly physical side we could always switch back to Moore/McShane/Blackett He screened the defense a...

Re: Back from the January Transfer Window Sponsored by Yermas Dildo

I gave you an example of a player who has dealt with a Premier league striker and then struggled in the Championship, you called it irrelevant. When really it was a fair comparison. Not sure it was a fair comparison though. The issues Cooper has are not about dealing with the physicality of PL forw...

Re: Back from the January Transfer Window Sponsored by Yermas Dildo

I understand your comment very well. You said he might struggle against powerful strikers many of which are common in the Championship due to his slender frame. I then suggested he has previously dealt very capably with powerful strikers i.e. Giroud.. who is much, much better than any striker in th...

Re: Back from the January Transfer Window Sponsored by Yermas Dildo

CountryRoyal When it comes to loans does the player have the ability to accept/reject the move like a full transfer?

Or is wholely up to the parent (and loanee) club?

The player can definitely say no to a loan. Hard to think of examples..

Re: Back from the January Transfer Window Sponsored by Yermas Dildo

#irrelevant. Probably sums up your post history tbf. If you attended games, especially the last couple where we have faced massive CFs and our current CB paring have struggled against in the air you would probably understand my comment. I understand your comment very well. You said he might struggl...

Re: Back from the January Transfer Window Sponsored by Yermas Dildo

the squad is probably too large now and there will be players who aren't going to get the minutes they possibly deserve, or at least think they deserve. We'll have handy players like Harriott, Rakels and Watson who might not get another minute in the first team this season, However, the board have ...

Re: Back from the January Transfer Window Sponsored by Yermas Dildo

The same Reece Oxford who kept Giroud in his pocket when he was 16 on his debut? Cooper 'kept' Lukaku in his pocket against Everton.. Look where that got him. Nobody said "Not sure a lad of his stature would fare well against some of the lumps playing CF in the Championship tbf" about Coo...

Re: Back from the January Transfer Window Sponsored by Yermas Dildo

genome Stam's pulling power has been considerable. Nearly every signing has said they wanted to come here because of Stam.

Even Bilic said he wanted Oxford to go here because of Stam.

Re: Back from the January Transfer Window Sponsored by Yermas Dildo

Stam said he was after a CB, a CM and ST. We got the CB in Illori, we were chasing Mutch for a while and then managed to get the striker in the end. Had Illori and VDB not gotten injured (Illori especially) we wouldn't have gone in for oxf*rd. The only unexpected one was Popa but with Harriot out w...

Re: Back from the January Transfer Window Sponsored by Yermas Dildo

Oxford is a left back.. Centre-back, isn't he? From wiki apparently, but from what I've heard he's more cover for LB than CB. Not sure a lad of his stature would fare well against some of the lumps playing CF in the Championship tbf. The same Reece Oxford who kept Giroud in his pocket when he was 1...

Re: Back from the January Transfer Window Sponsored by Yermas Dildo

For your Mendes's, Gravenberch's, and Wieser's you've got your Swift's, your Moore's and your Beerens's. I accept that! overall our signings have been hugely successful but it does seem interesting that the 3 loanees are quite obvious replacements for those 3. Not quite as obvious as you think as M...

Re: Back from the January Transfer Window Sponsored by Yermas Dildo

Probably just rubbish gambles. With the amount of players we signed since the start of the summer, you can't expect them all to work out - especially not from a management team so inexperienced. For your Mendes's, Gravenberch's, and Wieser's you've got your Swift's, your Moore's and your Beerens's....

Re: Back from the January Transfer Window Sponsored by Yermas Dildo

I think Mendes has struggled with fitness/adapting to English football and has also just had a child. I would imagine he is still one who will be involved. Gravenberch wasn't Stam's signing so was always going to struggle. Weiser I think we can agree is a failure. Mendes has apparently made 8 leagu...
