Re: Rumour - Rob Dickie

Hound Cooper was decent enough with the ball. He just dropped at least one horrendous error every single game when i saw him

Problem is we spent 3.5 million on a bloke from Liverpool who did the exact same so may as well have kept and tried to develop our own.

But Jaap Stam had a dROFLeam.

Apparently the real Jaap Staam isn't Jap Stam at all. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/52767875 "Jaap Stam: FC Cincinnati announce new manager with photo of someone else" I’m sure the American razzmatazz will love his exciting style of play Well at least their number of shut outs ...

Re: Players who virtually won us games/promotion/avoided relegation on their own

Nick Blackman was only here for a few months of the 2015/2016 season but still finished our top scorer, and if you take his goals & assists away we finished 21st and only narrowly avoided relegation. Our squad performed so poorly that season that, if the club had allowed votes for him, I'm sure...

Re: The most charismatic/moronic fan we have or have ever had

We currently have some of the worst fans in English football, some of them are a complete disgrace at away games. Loud, rude and deeply, deeply unfunny. everything is pretty much ok as long as it is based in good humour but we just seem to have a load of kids aged 16-25 who get drunk and drugged an...

Re: Finance

How long have I been saying that?. I’d say Liam Moore shows a lot of passion for the club. Wouldn’t say our youngsters like Rino & Richards are overpaid. The squad and type of player we have now is an improvement on say 3 years ago. But our recruitment has on the whole been poor as we’ve focuse...

Re: Players who virtually won us games/promotion/avoided relegation on their own

Ian Harte won that game for us against Brighton where they battered us for the full 90 yet he slotted that free kick. He got a couple of games for us that season. Also Kaspars (love hearts in my eyes) Gorkss I think Federici's penalty save might have had something to do with winning that Brighton g...

Re: Any player you recall who virtually beat us on their own.

Gianfranco Zola in pre-season friendly at EP .... absolute joy to watch. Rudd Gullit played a half against us for Newcastle in a friendly and looked the best player on the pitch by a mile. Looked it up and he didn't play a competitive game for them so that friendly must have been one of his last ga...

Re: Any player you recall who virtually beat us on their own.

Remember that game stopped Bournemouth reaching the play offs and they moaned about us trying to buy our way out of the League because of the Butler signing. Ironic now given how much they spent to get promotion from the Championship. Combined with how most of the major money they've spent in the PL...

Hendo
karbota Has anybody mentioned Sean Goater, I know it was towards the end of his career but woeful at Reading..

12 goals in 43 games? Hardly woeful.

Yeah but he's not of the caucasian persuasion so in Karbota's vile little mind he was shit.

Re: Finance

Manchester is a prime example of the failings of FFP as a whole. Who is the better run club? Is it the club whose owners have invested money into the infrastructure of not just the club and it's facilities but also the regeneration of the local area? Or is it the club full of debt, whose owners take...

Re: Finance

Scrap the anti competition scam known as FFP, tighten the fit and proper persons test with regular reviews of owners and their proof of funds along with their intentions. FFP is just a way for traditionally big clubs to keep the status quo and remain unchallenged whilst letting associations and leag...

Re: Worst ever Reading FC X1

Got to be looked at in the context of transfer fees. So: Craig Maskell. Record signing who was ok, but nowhere near as good as he should have been. And replaced Deano "Dean" Horrix I think so was always onto a loser. Carl Asaba. Record signing. Wasn't terrible but he was no Jimmy Quinn. L...

Re: Ngel Howe on radio

Mr Dai must be punished for investing his money and trying to grow the club to compete.

Now if he was taking money out rather than investing that would be totally acceptable under FFP.

Re: Best XI in your lifetime. (Excluding the 106 team)

If it included the 106 team, I'd have Hislop over Hahnemann, A N Other over Convey and I'd have to fit Sigurdsson in somewhere. The thing that would give Ivar/Sonks and Kitson/Doyle the nod for me is the combination at CB of brains and brawn and up front, both Kitson and Doyle were intelligent, tir...
