Re: Bibbo and Armstrong gone?

Those of us of a certain age who remember Bibbo's pretty poor efforts in goal for us in the late 90's were frankly stunned when he became a goalkeeping coach! No great loss in my opinion, and will surely be replaced by better Poor player doesn't necessarily equal poor coach (Wenger, Mourinho); you ...

Speculation: Kim Bo-Kyung

Released by Wigan, 25 year old attacking midfielder with 30 caps for South Korea. I recall he got plenty of assists in the Cardiff team that went up to the Premier league a few seasons back but fell out of favour once they got there. He might give us a creative element that we've been sorely lacking...

Re: Summer Rebuild

Easy to say let's just release players but if they're under contract it's not as simple as that. We might need to look at paying contracts off of some - especially if they are disrupting team harmony but it will cost money and will presumably have implications for FFP too. I would like to see us pla...

Re: Expectations for next season

I think the beauty of the Championship is it's generally so open anyone who can engender some spirit and confidence can make a strong push for promotion. Whether Clarke can instil those attributes in our squad remains to be seen. Most fans' expectations will be moulded by our transfer activity durin...

Re: Likely line up for first day next season?

Sidwell was injured at the beginning of the season then came into the side for a few games in November but hasn't really featured since barring a few sub appearances. Not sure when his contract expires - he strikes me as a player who wouldn't want to move out of the Prem for playing minutes and I wo...

Re: Anyone eye any strikers we should sign?

MoorgateRoyal Nicky Maynard might be worth looking at- he's got a point to prove and we could help him revive his career.

Also we have a good track record with players called Nicky.

Re: Anyone eye any strikers we should sign?

We'd never be able to afford his wages (not unless Pog leaves) but Ricky Lambert is surely on his way out of Liverpool and could tear up the Championship. Benik Afobe previously of this parish has scored 32 goals this season but can't see Wolves selling him to us, or being able to afford him. Isaiah...

Re: Summer Rebuild

I don't think you can judge him on those short-term, stop-gap signings; the Yak got us past Derby, Knight is a squad-filler and Appiah looks promising if very raw. Knight and Appiah were also signed outside the transfer window when availability of players is greatly reduced.

Re: Summer Rebuild

He did mate Anelka, Vydra, Amalfiltano Anichebe, Lugano, Popov and Sessesgnon were all his signings. I'm interested to know to what extent they were 'his', i.e. did he have full control over transfers at the time, I thought you had a DoF set up at WBA? In any case our scouting system will be differ...

Re: Reasons I'm worried about next season.

Reasons I'm Not worried about next season. 1. We will be more better With SC Hard to argue with that. In all seriousness I share IR's concerns but we have to give SC the benefit of at least one transfer window and pre-season. I'm not sure how instructive it is looking at strike rates in the Premier...

Re: Steve Clake - New Poll

Bamford may even be available from Chelsea on loan if he doesn't go back to Boro. Funding the acquisition of a decent striker this summer will be a key test of the Thais' credibility imo.

Re: Steve Clake - New Poll

Brighton - Made the play-offs last season = struggled as badly, if not worse than us this Wigan - made the play-offs last season = relegated bar some minor miracle this It's a concern but not unique to us. Can even happen during the season - who remembers Millwall in the mid 90's? Top at Christmas,...

Re: Birmingham (H) match thread sponsored by Vegemite

Ian Royal That's obviously not what Clarke wants. He wants energetic runners and tacklers.

Similar to Mourinho then who shipped out Mata for that reason - though comparing Norwood and Mata is stretching it a bit.
