Re: Rumour: James Harper (talks with Wolves confirmed)

Perhaps he deserves another chance in the PL if Wolves or another PL team show interest. Not. Joined. Up. Thinking. http://hobnob.royals.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=91344 I have no problem with experienced players being sold provided they are replaced by at least some Championship hardened ex...

Re: Open letter to Sir John

I have in no way been critical of the player sales that have happened. Doyle, Bikey and Hunt all deserve another crack at the PL. I have not criticised the management for past policies BUT IMO consistently putting out a team with an average age of 23 or less is risky. If it works then brilliant -but...

Re: Rumour: James Harper (talks with Wolves confirmed)

Strangely I was thinking it was hard to see how to fit Harper in this season. He is not a good enough tackler to be a defensive midfielder and not creative or goal scoring enough to be in the attacking role. I would have thought Cisse plus one of Gunnar, Tabb or Karacan in the defensive role would b...

Open letter to Sir John

Dear Sir John If you ever do venture on to these pages you will know that I have been a keen supporter of all that you have done for the club over the years. I try to look on the positive side and have frequently been vilified as one wearing rose tinted spectacles. I accepted the decision not to str...

Re: The Unruined Tommy Smith RUMOUR Thread

I agree regarding Church. I think he could become a good player but far from convinced he is up to Championship standard yet. He could really do with a full season at Div 1 level. On the other hand Davies and Robson-Kanu had had a lot more games on loan and look like they can make the step up this s...

Re: RUMOUR - Bikey to Marseille ... Burnley

Will be disappointed if Bikey goes - he has great potential. I hope we get a 40% sell on clause in case he becomes a star. Wonder if we will buy another CD to replace him or go with what we have and rely on loans if necessary. I am usually an RTG but I am concerned about the relative lack of experie...

Re: Top Scorer

Cannot see any of our players being top if we play 4-5-1. I suspect that Noel Hunt will be our top scorer if he stays fit.

Simon Cox could be a good shout if West Brom have a good season.

Re: The Unruined Tommy Smith RUMOUR Thread

I suspect the lack of activity re Smith is because Hunt has not been sold. As soon as he goes my guess is we will be back in for Smith. Reading between the lines it looks like the club have not made any of the Doyle transfer money available so the sale of Hunt is probably conditional before moving ...

Re: Rodgers needs two to complete jigsaw - from The Chronic

Still, we are actively looking to replace our top goalscorer, even if we're trying to do it cheaply. Seriously? Are we? It went very, very quiet on the Smith front (and quite rightly so) weeks ago. Unless you know something about Bas Savage coming back to the club then I can't see us actively looki...

Re: Rodgers needs two to complete jigsaw - from The Chronic

Yes SKB- I do find that patronising, but I also find it a load of tosh. In future, when you talk about " idiot proof", make sure you aren't the idiot yourself. Asset stripping is not the actions of a well run football club. Any business should know you need quality employees or you will f...

Re: Shane Long Vs Simon Church SEASON WATCH

Shane Long does not have the touch and skill of a Kevin Doyle and probably never will have BUT he is an out and out goal scorer. I watched him several times in the Premier Reserve League a few seasons ago and he consistently scored lots of goals - often against top defenders. He has not had a great ...

Re: Tolo IF 0-4 Reading FC (4 goals for Long!)

The opposition may not be the best but getting into a winning streak is all important at this stage. In the 2008 pre-season - apart from the 9-0 drubbing of Didcot - Reading never really reached the heights and the three Swedish games resulted in an overall 8-2 scoreline (4-1, 1-0 and 3-1). We look ...

Reading will win the league with 107 points and BR will then leave and go on to manage Man Unt after Sir Alex retires at the end of the season.

Even if Hunt does not have nay where to go why on earth would BR take him to Sweden to spoil team morale?

Much better to send him home until some desperate PL club bid for him.

Royalee
Y21_Royal Is this a thread about DoFs or a stupid attempt at fishing with the standard JM bashing bait?

Nicky Hammond is an exceptional DoF hence why Arsenal tried to poach him last year

Spot on.

Agreed - I think Hammond has done an excellent job for us.

Re: Murty's Testimonial

I really enjoyed the evening. I was expecting the football to be awful but it was actually very entertaining - at least until the latter stages when all the really old guard came on for their bow. Of course it was not a league game, but it was a good work out for the young players and so much for th...

Re: Number of players used in a season

We used a shed load of players last season, something in the region of 35 compared to 20 odd at Burnley IIRC. As for the "committee", I believe it was: Mick Gooding Jimmy Quinn Adie Williams Jeff Hopkins Richard Hill (Youth boss at the time) For the record RFC used 29 players in the leagu...
