Re: Points Deduction Incoming!

I'd also be interested to see some kind of viable strategy laid out for how things improve moving forwards - correct me if I am wrong, but you either: a) grow your revenues or b) manage your costs in order to comply with FFP... a) Grow your revenues: seems like the owners have decided to set reason...

Re: Points Deduction Incoming!

Heard this morning about some additional punishments from the EFL: 1. We have to play "They call us the Royals" before every game. 2. We can only have one member of bar staff on at the Jazz Cafe at any one time. 3. Kingsley to be replaced by the 'Go Compare' man - who contractually gets to...

Re: Points Deduction Incoming!

The worst that will happen is that they'll be suspended points deductions included in our punishment, that will apply next season if we don't stick our spending limits.

Re: Points Deduction Incoming!

So, the EFL's logic and methods are far, far from perfect. But they are constrained by the fact that football clubs are private entities and that they don't have perfect information on which to operate. The transfer embargo is basically the best tool the EFL has to force a club to stop spending mone...

Re: Pauno out

The manager made a big decision and the outcome was a serious blow for the fans and team. He has to hold his hands up, admit responsibility and learn from it. The owners will be paying attention and he'll only get so many chances.

Re: Goalkeeper situation now Rafael injured

Hound it'd be nuts to bring in an emergency into the first 11. Happy with either Southwood or JA

Rafael's been poor this season anyway.

Why do you think it would be nuts?

Noted and will do.But please however refrain from using the F word; I regret I am of a generation which find it distasteful and unacceptable. You would not use it in work would you, without serious implications ;or use it in mixed company. As one of the "mixed company", to whom you are poss...

Re: Out of Contract 2022

I was really surprised that the EFL let us sign who we did over the summer.

I can imagine that they might retain the same policy for us regarding renewals. Limited to one year extensions at no more than £8.5k a week.

Well, we are a bog standard team.

Playing at the Select Car(sey) stadium.

And a third pun.

How is it that the EFL are allowing to increase our wage bill like this? These signings don't sound particularly cheap to me.

Just as long as item 3) means that they put the money into the club with no strings attached - i.e. they don't convert it into share or don't add it onto the club as debt, soft or hard. Otherwise all they're doing is storing up problems for later owners - and potentially making the club unsaleable....

Re: BFTG - Huddersfield (A)

I was fully expecting us to be in the relegation zone or close to it by October. There's just now way around it given the issues we've had to deal with recently I was interested to see if the manager could mould a team together over that period that would ultimately get us out of it. But of course ...

Re: 2019/2020 accounts analsyis - from STAR

This is the conclusion I come to with FFP. 1) It's a dumb name especially when they also use profitability and sustainability which are two different things and the latter name for me, is far more sensible for what football should be looking to achieve as a whole. 2) The goal of financial rules and...

... what would be the consequences if the owners decided to drive a coach and horses through the rules and do a "Man City" by ploughing enough money in to .... fund a promotion winning squad? To a certain extent, that's what they tried to do last year. But if you're going to do that it's ...

Just read the STAR report and thanks to those who took the time to analyse and explain. Whilst I appreciate the FFP rules are in place and apologies if this is naïve but what would be the consequences if the owners decided to drive a coach and horses through the rules and do a "Man City" ...

Re: Relegation

So there's two approaches to this that us fans can go with. We can create an awful atmosphere around the clubs and at games, calling for the manager to be sacked and for the owners to spend money. This is what we've done for roughly the last 6ish years - which, to be fair, resulted in one play-off f...

Should play Moore as a sweeper - Ruud Gullit style. Don't know why that ever went out of fashion.

Re: Injury watch 2021/22

The only positive is that I would expect that EFL to now allow us to bring in a new striker on better terms than our current restrictions. This is a reasonable situation in which to break the rules.
