Re: BFTG - Coventry (A)

To be fair to the ref though, players should be playing to his whistle and not giving up as they think it’s all over. There were, apparently, 3 bookings handed out in stoppage time so presume that’s where the overrun came from. Having VP go on about it after the game was I thought embarrassing and ...

Re: Attendance

Visiting team the furthest possible distance away hardly helps COVID will be the big thing , lots of people still not ready for crowds I think a lot of people will have really missed it, but quite a few will have realised they hadn't been enjoying it and only went out of a habit which has been brok...

Re: Relegation

This thread is a relegation thread that went awry, but let’s get it back on track. I’m pretty certain that the first season of 3 points for a win 1982/1983 saw us relegated to division 4 whereas the old 2 points for a win would have seen us survive.

Mid Sussex Royal
Snowflake Royal When was Lincoln's season?

I believe 1975/76, when Graham Taylor was manager.

We were promoted too that season in third from the same league (4th tier) - in the days of Mr Friday

And their team contained a certain Ian Branfoot.

Looks like someone has stolen your thesaurus.

I'm a bit old for dinosaur toys.

I would have had you down for being too old to be posting like a schoolboy that hasn’t discovered his path in life yet, but heyho! things happen.

Re: 150th Anniversary Thread - 2021/22

Optimistic that the club will do a good job on this. What I have seen on the mural is impressive and will be interesting to see what else they have planned. Quite amazing that fans of the newer clubs accuse us of having no history ..... We have plenty of history, it’s just that it’s very uninterest...

Re: Meite as good as Percy Freeman

He was 5'6", 5'7" max. That's really short for a keeper even back then. And yes, he was a really great player, regardless of how good the rest of your defence might be, you don't go 1,103 minutes without conceding a goal unless you are a really great keeper! Yep tiny by any goalkeeping st...

Re: Meite as good as Percy Freeman

So not that I would insult many of the old Reading fans out there but, I know nothing of Percy Freeman but considering he played for us when we were a lower league side and how much football has progressed since then, I feel pretty confident saying that Meite is substantially better. As an older fa...

Thanks for the clarification Faith Healer. Sadly, the wall has possibly fared better than Percy, he died January 2016  From Lincoln City LNER Train of Fame Bio: Percy Freeman Percy Freeman He played as Number 9 through David Herd’s management of Lincoln City, but when Graham Taylor took over a...

Re: Mike Conroy

Pathetic dismissal of the huge achievement of 2 promotions and a Cup competition in which we beat 3 top flight teams - all in the space of 5 years. He may have been limited but he was a very successful manager for us. Oh, and I’m not usually one of those tedious pedants with such an empty life that...

Re: Mike Conroy

Greetings, one question, Mike Conroy played for Reading in the late 80's. He was a center forward, right? I’m not usually one of those tedious pedants with such an empty life that I have to point out spelling mistakes, but, in this case, I feel the need. Unless you originate from the USA, It’s CENT...

Re: The hardest player to ever play for Reading?

tidus_mi2 In recent history, Andre Bikey was a nutjob and Carlo Cudicini knocked himself out by colliding with Sonko.

And Steve Hunt didn’t realise that he was a hard man until he cleaned out Petter Chech/Check/Chehckz whatever.

Re: Who do you WANT to win the play-offs?

I don’t think that Bournemouth fans really want to go up. Reading is, and always has been their big day out.
Give it to Brentford, good team, good set up, and too good for us at the moment. Let them have their one season.

Re: The hardest player to ever play for Reading?

Billy Whitehurst Terry Hurlock Kevin Bremner....and on and on and on..... I thought that Billy was just a thug, and Kevin a grafter rather than a hard man. Terry is probably the all time Reading hard man, and could play a bit too. And let’s not forget Robin up front, he could take a waist high tack...

Re: Meite as good as Percy Freeman

Two very different worlds, Percy left as he could earn better money scaffolding, Meite shouldn’t ever have to worry about the pecunies.
I think Meite earns more in a week than Percy earnt in his Reading career.

The people saying we were drifting out of the play offs were actually correct. Because we have. And now we’re desperately hoping Barnsley fcuk it up. No amount of playground talk is going to change that. Especially from this urine sodden clown. And also, if by some kind of freak occurrence we actua...
